Clock App Survey

  • @CiberSheep said in Clock App Survey:

I'm interested to know the use we do of the clock app as it will be useful for a small redesign
    a) I open the Clock App when I want to: Set an alarm clock
    b) I normally open the Clock App from: the Ubuntu logo down the bar
    c) I think Clock App misses: beautiful design with a hand for second too
Rate the following aspects between 0-4, being
    2 some times,
    d) Clock (the time
    10.42am
    e) World Clock (more than 1 city clock)
    I don't need it
    f) Alarm (wake me up)
    haven't tried yet
    g) Chronometer (timer with laps)
    don't need it
    h) Timer (count down)
    same
    i) I have been using Ubuntu touch as my main device since: 3 days ago (or never if it's not your main drive)

  • When opening the Clock App the screen is divided in two. Upper half displays the clock and below the line is almost blank. That is, in my case - and no doubt as have many others - only if one clock is selected for the place I live in/nearest.

Since many on this poll have indicated the alarms to be of importance, would it be a good option to have the lower half of the screen display the alarms if the user has not selected another/multiple clock(s)?

Indeed, the main idea of the survey is to know how people use the app and redesign consequently 🙂

  • @CiberSheep

Yeah I know, my suggestion may have been somewhat preliminary .... well at least you've taken notice 😉 Looking forward to many more responses by fellow members here. Eagerly awaiting the 'results' and subsequent changes to the app. Thanks!

Douze points for more Alarm oriented features

  • a) I open the Clock App when I want to: Set my ALARM clock
    b) I normally open the Clock App from: The app drawer
    c) I think Clock App misses: n/a

    d) Clock (the time) 2
    e) World Clock (more than 1 city clock) 1
    f) Alarm (wake me up) 4
    g) Chronometer (timer with laps) 1
    h) Timer (count down) 2
    i) I have been using Ubuntu touch as my main device since: 2019

  • Btw. stopping and restarting timers is pretty buggy... 😬

  • a) activate or set new alarm, check times in different time zones
    b) from app drawer
    c) I think Clock App misses: analog view, 24h time format

    d) Clock (the time) 1
    e) World Clock (more than 1 city clock) 2-3
    f) Alarm (wake me up) 4
    g) Chronometer (timer with laps) 1
    h) Timer (count down) 2

    i) I have been using Ubuntu touch as my main device since: 2017

Tapping the clock itself will change analog to digital visa versa, digital clock showing 24h time format. Hope this helps

  • @3T_Ed sorry, should have been more precise. I meant a proper analog view at least tick marks for hours and (optional ?) numbers.

  • @nogoogle

    Ah I see..

Good one, I can understand why you'd want that feature and an optional outside ring could be a simple solution (excuse me if I oversimplify, I'm no dev/designer)

Personally I like the modern style the way it is now.

  • a) Set alarm.
    b) Indicators top bar.
    c) Ascending alarm sound.
    d) 2
    e) 3
    f) 2
    g) 2
    h) 2
    i) More than 1 year.

    🙂

  • Thank you all. I'll lock now the thread as I'm counting.
I'll open a new one were we can see the results and talk about design, redesign, etc.

    Weeeee
