Got it. Forgot to secure that domain, so the URL started with http instead of https which I always typed. Secured it and now it works.
Sorry I bothered you!

Help me understand one basic question, please
Please correct me, if I am wrong:
Compared to any Android based phone, the Pinephone offers most privacy due to most hardware operating with open source software and the hardware switches.
As an OS, focussing on privacy, shouldn't be the pinephone the first device to put effort in?
Additionally, isn't development on the pinephone easier?
Development should be much more efficient since there's no messing around with Android compatibility layers, proprietary hardware pieces, etc.So why is the most suitable device hardly maintained? Why wasting so much time and effort in adapting Android phones which develop so fast, UT developers hardly can keep up with?
If I get it right, after all the time, the Pixel 3a is the only device not lacking features. There are so many incomplete builds and despite that, new phones get added to the list instead of completing those which are there already.
If someone would ask me, which device to buy, honestly I don't know. The Pixel 3a is complete, but old. The others are incomplete. Even the preinstalled Volla Phone is not 100% ready and therefore way too expensive. Why not make the pinephone (pro) a really great UT device?
Why not concentrate powers on one device which can be most easily maintained and make it THE UT phone?I don't get it. Am I wrong with what I said?
Please help me understand that...Thanks!

Volla Phone - Fingerprint reader stopped working
Hello,
the fingerprint reader of my Volla Phone doesn't work any more. It doesn't react at all. I also can't add new fingerprints, though it shows the screen and tells me to tap the sensor. It does nothing and recognizes nothing.
I had this before and after rebooting it normally starts to work again. I rebooted a dozen times now, but nothing changes.
Is there any way to check, if this is soft- or hardware related? Can I "talk" to the fingeprint reader in the terminal or something like that?Thank you!

RE: Volla Phone identical to Gigaset GS290?
@makeixo I need to say another thing. Maybe I already own a Gigaset GS290 and maybe I'd like to try it with UT.
Why shouldn't I ask in such a case?
Instantly calling me acting unfair isn't right. And I'm just a user who isn't that deep in that thing. I even don't know if the port has been made by Volla or UBPorts. The letter case would make it legitimate.
But concerning your and my last post, I assume, the port has been done by Volla and knowing that, I would definitely support them since I also want UT and similar approaches to succeed.
I just want to make clear, that I support UT since years (I got 5 devices by now running UT) and I didn't mean to corrupt that in any way.

RE: What happened to "flas"? Alternative?
@domubpkm yes, but since it's running in a browser it will stop playing as soon as I turn off the screen, won't it?

RE: Working video codecs
I just realized that every video file I encode with Handbrake does work on my Meizu Pro 5. I reencoded all .mp4 files which didn't play before and after reencoding with Handbrake each of these Videos were playable. Even a movie (1,5 GB size) does work without a problem.
Strange to me is, that the codec specs (given by VLC) are the same before and after. So I can't trace down what the problem exactly is.
But knowing that, I have at least a way to make my videos playable on my device.I also encoded one video to .ogv (theora + ogg) but that still was not playable. I really wonder, what the problem here is and why .ogv doesn't work though it's open source...

RE: How are the projects doing?
Lately I get the feeling Ubuntu Touch is dying.
I am writing this on a Volla Phone with Ubuntu Touch.
I got a lot of issues, like more and more websites (PayPal, Sony, etc) reject my browser (uAdBlock deacätivated), apps not working any more because they were abandoned (Fluffy Chat, for now, there's Cinny) and so on.
Now, Ubuntu 20.04 is months away...I got a Pinephone, too and I wonder, why this cheap device does so many things so much better out of the box (almost every OS). I don't have those problems, because I am allowed to install apps from the repositories, flathub and so on.
I wanted to back the new Volla Phone mainly due to the better camera. But since I'm not interested in Volla OS (tried it on my current Volla Phone), I didn't, because it doesn't make sense to me in the current state of UT.
What I like to know is, will UT be able to make enough progress to keep up or are the resources not enough?
The UBPorts Version of the Pinephone was let down already (I know, the community should have been responsible for that, but it's very annoying nevertheless).
What if I buy a new Volla Phone now, which isn't a cheap investment? Will there be a future?
I am only a simple user, but I am using UT since the first BQ came out. And I would love to do so in the future. But I need to know, if there is a future because right now, it doesn't seem so...
Please give me hope...

RE: NextCloud Calendar Sync not working
Solved it. I had to connect to my NextCloud calendar via the more specific URL (https://<myserver>/NextCloud/remote.php/dav)
It seems to work now. Sorry for bothering you!

RE: VollaPhone fingerprint not available after using developer mode
@jojumaxx Seems like the phone "forgot" about the fingerprints that have been saved at that time. So I couldn't choose the fingerprint option, since "there were" no fingerprints.
I deleted them all and created new ones and after that the fingerprint option was enabled again. It seems to work normal again.

All right, thanks for that viewpoint. I never saw it like that.
I'll keep my badge of honour then! -
How to remove Orange State?
Lately, I had huge trouble, when I tried to flash Droidian onto my Volla Phone 22.
The installer was for a short time in a state, in which it flashed incompletely and left my phone as brick.
Fortunately, the Volla support was able to revive my phone, but with an Orange State warning. I was told, to leave it that way.Since Droidian is too buggy on my device I went back to Ubuntu Touch but still get that Orange State warning. I want to get rid of that.
Can someone help me doing this? -
RE: Morph failing on some sites
@domubpkm thanks for that. I'll close this then and wait.

RE: Did UBPorts Installer brick my Volla Phone 22?
@sven The error message I pasted above tells about a missing image.
And at this time, as I learned, the installer was only partially flashing critical firmware partitions so if you came from android 12+ it would leave you with a brick...
This is fixed now, the Installer does a correct flash now. -
RE: Morph failing on some sites
@kugiigi Can be roughly estimated when there is an update to come, even if it is a long shot? Does that depend on something?

Morph failing on some sites
I have problems using some websites with Morph.
E.g. I can't make payments with PayPal. The Website simply won't load from a specific point on, like it's blocking me.
Another example is EBay Kleinanzeigen (kleinanzeigen.de) which won't let me log in.Another website (I don't remember which one) told me, the browser version was too old.
Everything works on my other phone (Volla OS, Fennec Browser) and any other device I have.
I also tried the Sapot browser from the store without success. Can anyone think of what the problem might be?

RE: Did UBPorts Installer brick my Volla Phone 22?
The support team of Volla helped me to revive the phone.
A BIG thank you to them. However the UBPorts installer shouldn't be able to flash phones when it's not ready yet.
And it should check if it has all files before data is written incompletely which bricks expensive phones! -
Did UBPorts Installer brick my Volla Phone 22?
I tried to flash Droidian onto my VP22.
I used the .deb package of the UBPorts Installer (v. 0.10.0) on my Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
I did everything proposed and started the installation.
It got stuck with:Error: fastboot:flash: Error: Flashing failed: {"error":{"code":1},"stderr":"fastboot: error: cannot load '/home/<user>/.cache/ubports/mimameid/firmware/unpacked_droidian/data/dtbo.img': No such file or directory"}
Now I can't even turn on the phone. Neither with power button alone nor with power + vol up/down.
Is it a 450€ brick now? Or is there a way to rescue it? -
Help with Touch IDE
I'm trying to do my first steps with Touch IDE. Though my code should work according to an example, it doesn't. What I have is (screenshot 1):
According to this, the result should be "->text entered in textbox<-"
But I always get "-><-" (screenshot 2). The content of the text box is never read or extracted.
I guess the reason is pretty simple, but right now, I just don't get it...
Thanks for your help -
Morph not playing any video or stream
I'm running Focal (UT 20.04 (OTA 3)) on a Volla Phone X.
Neither Morph nor Sapot (which seem to be the only browser options right now) do play any online video or stream on my device. On my Volla Phone which still runs Xenial (UT 16.04 (OTA 25)) Morph does play online videos and streams.
What's wrong on my Volla X?
Thanks!
