<![CDATA[No internet connection in Waydroid (OnePlus 5T)]]>Since I've updated Waydroid to the latest version (Waydroid 1.51, Android 13) in most cases there is no internet connection in Waydroid. The log says “unable to connect to 192.168.240.112: 5555: No route to host”.
I’ve tried everything I found on the internet.
The strange thing is: From time-to-time Waydroid DOES connect to the phone and everything works fine. But I’m not able to reproduce this behavior. Although I repeat all the steps that seem to have led to a working system before, like rebooting, restarting, reinstalling, resetting internet connections on the phone and in Waydroid in a special order, it usually fails.
Updating Waydroid and Ubuntu touch doesn’t change anything.
On another OnePlus 5T everything is the same.
There seems to be any random mechanism working, when Waydroid tries to get an ethernet connection to the host ...
Any ideas?
Or anyone facing such problems on similar or other devices?

I've tried a lot, a possible solution works once or twice and it happens that it doesn't work for several days. It's very annoying that I can only access my emails here because Dekko doesn't work for me.

Currently it sometimes works in the following way:

  1. Flight mode under UT
  2. Start Waydroid
  3. Kill all apps in Waydroid that want to establish an internet connection in the background (e.g. F-Droid, Signal)
  4. Start an internet connection in UT (e.g. use the browser)
  5. After a while a connection will be established in Waydroid.

(I indeed have the exact same problem on my ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1)

It is unclear to me was a solution ultimately found to this issue, but I thought that with the extra information I have given below maybe someone could point me in the right direction to sort my problem out:

It is really strange that, as you said, very occasionally Waydroid does get an internet connection, but it lasts for just a very brief time and I cannot replicate it no matter what I do. Also strange is that while of course the browser does not work in the absence of internet, downloading an app eg. from F-Droid does work allbeit taking a very long time to do so!?

Ubuntu Touch WiFi settings show that it has an IP address in the style 192.168.0.XXX, whereas Waydroid Wifi settings show it has address of the style 192.168.240.XXX. The former is replicated in my router's ARP User List together with its MAC-address. The latter (Waydroid) is replicated numerous times together with a MAC-address of 00:00:00:00:00:00. In the router's list of active DHCP clients it is only Ubuntu Touch that shows up with the name "ubuntu-phablet".

Hopefully someone can help me here to resolve this which is the only issue I have with an otherwise impressively functional installation of UbuntuTouch / Waydroid.

This is the only procedure that works – sometimes:

  1. Switching WLAN and mobile data off,
  2. restarting phone,
  3. starting Waydroid, resetting internet connection in Waydroid,
  4. resetting internet connection in Waydroid again – and switching on WLAN on the phone, while the search for an internet connection within Waydroid is running.
  5. Success: Waydroid has internet!
  6. Stopping Waydroid session and container and restarting it – the connection is lost again 😞

The moment to switch on WLAN seems to be critical. It must not be two seconds too early nor two seconds too late.
