<![CDATA[15 stable or 16 rc?]]>the wife is running an old samsung preandroid touch phone, the battery life is ending. we are located in the usa and she only uses the phone with a philippine sim card to text family and friends in the philippines, no other functions. i would like to set her up with my nex 5 that i just updated the battery on. i am thinking of loading 15 stable on the phone it has 16 rc right now. is 15 stable still getting updates or should i stick wiith 16 rc? thanks

Yes all your info etc will go, so you will need to take a back up of your device first.
You have currently updated to the dev version of 15.04 from what you say. You can stay where you are on 15.04dev if you are happy with it and you will at somepoint in the future be able to update to 16.04 directly. However the time scale for that is not set in stone at present and is at least a few weeks away.

You need to install 16.04 for now.

RC channel is updated ~weekly, and Dev channel ~daily.

Do I need to update from the desktop installer and not from the device?

So after checking it out on here, I moved to 16.04 rc. I must admit that I do like it and getting regular updates makes me feel better. As said before 16 is the way UBPorts wants to go, so I would too personally stick with that. Also if you just need the phone for making overseas calls, I do not see that it would make much difference what version you are on, so why not go for the latest and greatest.

That is where UBports is moving to and all future development will be. Also 16.04 will be moving to a stable version in the near future, when the final bugs are well and truly crushed.
To keep unto date you may want to try 16.04 dev from the update settings. That will give you the very latest version.
