I'm Jan Sprinz (you probably know me as NeoTheThird) and i help run the UBports community team. I'm 19 years old and I study Game Engineering and Computer Science in Germany. 🙂

I'm fairly new to Ubuntu Touch and the Linux Community in general. Last summer, as I was browsing the web as a traumatized macOS refugee that recently installed Ubuntu, i came across this weird piece of audio-visual something. And somehow I ended up here. 🙂

I'm not new on the community (2 years ago) but I update my informations :
I recently acquired phones to 'taste' OS :

  • samsung galaxy SII : I descovered LineageOS with him... but too old for alternative OS... so, back to android.
  • sony xperia X : I start ubuntu touch with it. currently my daily device.
  • oneplus6 : currently on mobian. For the moment, I'm not able to go back... and re-install recovery.
  • asus max pro m1 : currently, more or less 'bricked' : the fastboot mode seems broken, and indicate error. It boot on twrp welcome screen...
  • sony xperia Z5 compact : currently a backup phone, one lineageOS... but available for 'crash tests'

I've always been a tech enthusiast, and by chance I wanted to see if there were any Linux alternatives for experimenting on an old Android phone.

Thanks to everyone who keeps the project updated. After initial difficulties with the drivers and watching a video, I had no major problems with the installation.

my name is Charly. I come from Germany and have been using Linux on my PC for 30 years and on my cell phone for about 3 years.

Thank you everyone for the great work. I love my UT Volla X23 and use it as a daily driver.

I am pleased that the waiting time is for 24.04 is over and I hope that there are now resources for bug fixes and further developments.

If I had only one wish, I would want Bluetooth support for Waydroid.

My name is Jan and I like the idea to have fun with a Linux based mobile OS. Certainly with the current developments in the (tech) world. A couple of months ago I started actively to de-google. When I reduced the amount of apps the switch to another android 'taste' would be easier. I bought a Nothing CMF 1 and installed e/os. I host my own nextcloud instance, and this combination works like a charm. I already work with linux boxes for a long time. When I read more about UbuntuTouch and PostmarketOS, I liked the idea to buy an FairPhone4, and do the 'next step' 🙂

When you search the web, it seems that there is actually a German living in Canada named "Kai Nacke" and he is also active on GitHub.
