I come to present you "Launcher Modular".
Officially released this morning!
We want to live again the scopes but with a possibility of implementation facilitated.

For now the leash is not very flexible and the installation of scope and widget is not possible, but it is expected ...

I've always loved this launcher too, so I've decided to roll up my sleeves and get back to maintenance.
So I'm pleased to announce the following changes:

  • Addition of a new page for RSS feeds
  • Improved 'Picture' page display performance
  • Update translations
    v2.3.3
  • Set how many calls to display!
  • Set how many messages to display!
  • Set how many events to display!
  • Call redirection to phone app works!
  • Message redirection to messaging app works!
  • Force the event list to refresh by double-clicking on the event widget!
  • The event list shows event from current day!
  • Clicking on the 'Alarm' widget opens the clock!
  • Open the photo by clicking on it!

There are no new features, but the business code has been updated.

The circle is there, but no statistics text appear. Is it a bug? It doesn't help to toggle the show statistics button off and on again.
Oh well, it doesn't affect the overall user experience much! 🙃

I do agree though that this feature is kinda useless. Hopefully, someone can come up with a more useful use of that circle.

Launcher Modular does not hang anymore after UT updates. Since there has not been a LM update I guess it was (unintentionally?) fixed through the latest UT update.

And even on stable, it has some bugs, i cannot use galery page on MX4, LM crashs when i try to set it.

Launcher modular hacks its way into the system, so it probably need to redo the work after each update and a reboot is required in order to apply the m"hack".

Not sure if you're talking about the same thing I have in mind. But it certainly looks like it 🙂

After rebooting manually again LM is working fine.

Is this a known issue and a consequence of the latest update? Anyone else have the same experience?

Just to give an opposite point of view.
What you like (or me) is not necessarily what the majority likes.

I like the circle like this and find the data quite interesting to remember when some meeting took place or else...
Of course something more customizable is always welcome : set priorities, toggle some info on/off, ...

But as always with customization it takes time and it's not the priority of UBports over functionalities and stability.
So this has to be a community effort.
And as a project manager I can tell that the best course of action is to work one small step at a the time.

Yep, how much it is an intelligent lock screen that has been worked on with passion, I'd rather have a circle with assigned widgets which are save to show on the lock screen just to have instant access to very practical and non-privacy invasive features like:

  • ICE basic information
  • Weather(forecast)/temperature
  • RSS/News feed
  • Audio player
  • Instant camera
  • Voice recorder
  • uPower
  • Torch
  • pitch/dB meter
  • game (for kids)

It would be a time saving circle without having to unlock the phone. It would be a great addition even for others to use your device without having to fear they'll open your device.

Activating the slider 'Setting Stats on welcome screen' and reboot did make Launcher Modular hang. After (hard)rebooting twice the Circle appeared. Jay!
