I cannot find in the file manager the location of notification sounds or ringtones. Are they actually available as files?

I'm really struggling with the pinephone at the moment and I've always been useless at navigating in ubuntu, terminal etc! Seem to forget things quicker than learning them these days, hi-ho.
The reason I asked is kind of academic because I solved my dilemma by simply making a recording of the sound I wanted and used that.
