I've been using it as a test case. It's good on data. (Maybe Wifi, drivers cancel and I wasn't charged this time.) The browser app isn't as good as the main app-- but it's good enough. I bought a Nexus 4 for $35 to have an Ubuntu phone. This'll work till we make it better!</p>

That means once it connects to a driver if the user "disappears" Lyft assumes the user cancelled the ride and starts looking for another driver, charging the passenger. So it <em>does</em> work, I think outdoors, but perhaps the WiFi affects it (I'd have to test it again outside the house.)</p>
<p dir="auto">I think Lyft's API is open but I could be wrong.</p>
