And also as for every Android device, you will have to at least flash a new kernel since we cannot reuse the Android kernel. So that means you will have to unlock your phone, which normally results in loss of all data (as a precaution against hacking). So, there is no real "tryout" possible, unfortunately.

By design, or limitation (H/W, S/W)?

That could be a good thing for people willing test uTouch without erasing actual OS, like with GNU/L live CD for PC.
