Install

You need to have an Android 10 base flashed on your phone first. I assume the latest update should work.

If you need to upgrade to Android 10 first (for example, if you already have installed the Halium 9 Ubuntu Touch build) and don't want loose your user-data, I prepared the 3.A.0129 stock rom, which does not touch your userdata, when flashing:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=7161016148664802137

If your device is upgraded or already running Android 10 just use the ubports installer, which you can download on this site:
https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/fp3/

WayDroid (anbox-halium)

Since everything changed again in the waydroid source, I removed the instructions.
We should just wait until it is ready...

Troubleshooting

It is likely to be needed, to format the data partition if you flash ubports the first time, which will delete all your personal files on the phone.
I am not sure if a
fastboot -w
will be enough, or if it is needed to format the data partition using TWRP.

Some users report, that an initial boot to recovery is needed to boot system successfully. Otherwise the device hangs on boot-logo.
However, if that happens, for me it was enough to "cold" boot the device (very long press on the power button until it reboots) after the first start, when it hangs on boot-logo.

I got the Impression, that it has somethin to do with mobile data/cellular network.
I believe it cooled down, when I disabled mobile data, and it did not get hot again, after turning it on again...

So far, it hasnt been incredibly warm. Its been roughly 2 hours since the full charge and its at 86%. Im heading to the zoo with the kids. I can update on the battery status when we are on our way back.

Minor update: 40min after my previous post, I can feel the FP3+ heating up in my pocket. The battery level is at 74% as I type this. Losing 12% battery when it has been in my pocket is probably an issue.

Did you do a reboot in the meantime?

I came back home for dinner and recharged my phone fully. It went from 100% down to 38% in 5h with minimal use (been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 all evening). It is strange to see the battery drain so quickly. Any suggestions or recomendations on what could be causing this?

I have been outside today with my kids and I noticed something:

I used bluetooth headset all afternoon (12pm to 4pm connected but not playing anything) and noticed that the FP3+ got really warm in my pocket. I went to check it out and the battery was at 15%. I left the house with 80%. I guess bluetooth drains battery a lot more than before. I ised to have the same headset connected to the FP3+ the entire day without issues.

I also got a call but I couldnt get the call through the headset. Is there a setting I need to do to be able to use the headset for calls? The headset works for music (Futify) just fine though.

If it is like this, then the networkmanager is not getting an internetconnection at all, even if it is there at the sim card.

Awesome, that it is working for you now.

I forgot to mention that I was going to look for the manual APN settings for my mobile operator.

Once I set it up, I rebooted the FP3+ and I have mobile data!

Adding to it, now I get the the little "L" icon with a full bar! I guess that solved all the network issues Ive been having these last few days. Why I didnt think about fixing the APN manually is beyond me.

Thanks a bunch for being so patient with a n00b like me!

Perhaps you could try to set APN settings manually?

When its not working, what is displayed in the red circled location in your case?

I went outside today (finally it stopped raining) and decided to check out the GPS connection. You were completely right. After a couple of minutes, it got my location. But I noticed that I've got no mobile data at all. I only noticed because the map wasnt loading so I opened the Browser, which showed no internet connection at all, despite showing full connection. Still 3G though. No 4G. Since Ive been stuck at home for the last couple of days, I am wondering whether I didnt have any connection before?

Any way to turn it on? Mobile Data is checked in the settings.
