<![CDATA[Ubuntu Touch VS Sailfish VS KDE Plasma OS OnePlusOne]]>Hey all!

So I finally bit the bullet and decided to try out flashing a linux based phone distro onto this phone. I currently have a tuga power rom for Android Oreo. I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with these other distros and which worked the best on the oneplusone?

Obviously if I'm posting here I'm leaning towards UT but am not sure if I could use it as a daily driver. I currently use things like the brave browser, signal texting app, google maps, camera, flashlight and a photo gallery. That is pretty much it. I'm currently using ATT towers in the US and would like 3g/4g if possible. Battery life is also something I'm interested in.

Unfortunately multirom images for recent ubports seem not available.

Am I right to conclude you got sailfish 3.0.1.11 working but after pkcon update it fails?

If not please start here https://github.com/wdehoog/sailfish-bacon-images/wiki on looking how to install sailfish on your oneplus one. If you have an unaddresses problem you can create an Issue on github.

Sorry for asking but what exactly are you doing? Which files are you using to flash ubports? Which files are you using to flash sailfish? What do you mean with 'when updating sailfish'? Which installed system does not start?

What all security features does this browser have? I know with the brave browser it has a ad, script, and phishing blocker built in.

To my knowledge, only a Private Mode. But healthy behaviour is, in my opinion, sufficient to ensure a proper level of safety

The default Ubuntu Touch web browser is a lightweight UI on top of the Oxide browser engine based on Chromium.

I can pretty well use telegram instead of signal for texting, looks like it does have a gps map program similar to google maps along with other basic apps, but now my question is:

What web browser is it using as the default?
If it's firefox or if there's a way to get a snap version of firefox working I should be able to manage.

Sorry if this is a lot of basic questions I haven't installed anything as of yet.

Although plasma-mobile can become a great platform currently it is not usable on the oneplus one.

Both UBPorts as well as Sailfish run quit well. I think you have to check which apps you want to use are available and use that to decide which one to install.

You can ofcourse install both and even, as I do, sometimes boot Android. I am using Sailfish 94% of the time.
