It seems this is a very nice combination - for the people that have such a device, I cannot find one anywhere for reasons on the manufacturers side I guess.
So I got my hands on a Surface Tablet and put Debian, linux-surface packages, + Waydroid on there and I think this is also a very nice combination, it seems to work quite well using it either with a keyboard and in tablet mode when using Android apps. This just got me thinking - this would be a very nice device to port UT to - given that these devices are widely available. This would solve the availability problem for sure. I don't know however if there are hardware related or other issues that would prevent running UT on there.
So just to emphasize, this is not meant as criticism or such in any way, just a report from out in the wild with the statement that I would have chosen UT for that system if it was available

Not knowing anything about porting it seems hard for me to do anything meaningful - but actually, reading this: https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/x86/ I understand I should be able to just install Lomiri as an alternative Desktop, knowing that its experimental. Would that approach give the full UT experience, also install the core apps along with it?

They are a nice device and easy to get hold of. Just needs that missing person to give it a try and that will not be me either before anyone points that out

And since you own one, you would be the prime candidate to port it. On the other hand, isn't that tablet made with a totally architecture than Android? That might be an obstacle.
