Might be a good idea to not allow manual selection of phone on UBports if it's going to brick a phone. This is a good phone and many are available at a reasonable cost. Would like to run Ubuntu as I run it on laptop and desktop as well as servers.

E/OS is my back up plan for when UT no longer works on the Nexus 5.

You can also install /e/OS on them which is a de-Googled privacy orientated ROM.

Really? I don't see Nexus 5 listed amongst the e/os supported devices.

I hacked mine pretty quickly so made it more secure. You can also install /e/OS on them which is a de-Googled privacy orientated ROM.

If I don't remember it wrong, it is very hard to port the N5X. There have been couple of tries, that has all failed.

Sometimes the installer doesn't recognize the phone and selecting it manually has solved the problem in most cases.

Try Mobian or Postmarket Os on a supported device.
