<![CDATA[Ubuntu Pro]]>Canonical has announced the free personal Ubuntu Pro subscription. It allows for 10 years of updates from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS onwards. Is it possible to enable it on older Ubuntu Touch devices, which will cannot be upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, so that they get security updates for the next years on? If yes, then how to do it?

Today those are 18.04 (till april 2023) 20.04 (till april 2025), 22.04 (till april 2027) and 22.10 (till June 2023).

Only ESM support does not include ARM packages, so it turns out.

I don't know about 20.04 because 20.04 still has security updates for more than two years but time flies. For now I will conclude only for 16.04 regarding ESM and branch arm. But I had the same thought as you.. And if there was no ESM at all for the arm branch, it would force to stick closer to UT in time to LTS updates....

On another hand we do get updates from debian don't we ? Or are we just contributing ? Because they have to be maintaining an arm branch for mobian I guess

However unfortunately we are kinda blocked by a serious issue in OTA-24 and cannot release anything. Itยดs a pity, until that is solved another month or so will pass, and only then we can deliver the ESM updates.

And, once this is in place, these will be incorporated in the OTA updates.
