On my home/introduction screen, there is something like a clock showing.....a circle of dots. In the centre of the screen, it says "no monitoring data today". What does this all mean. What is the function and how do I control/interact with it?

The dots indicate the days of the current month, the present day is indicated too... and if you do things, such as make/receive calls, send/receive text messages, take pictures... they will be recorded as 'petals' around the circle of dots.
And yes, tapping rapidly inside the circle is supposed to show you different metrics about your current month of UT use.

But... what I can tell you is that when you tab on the information in the center three times quickly then you get more informations like how many videos you made the day and so on.
