Since it's an A/B device, I'd like to try a different OS now and then on the slot not used by Ubuntu Touch, but keep Ubuntu Touch on my other slot. The whole thing would actually work, there's just one problem: both slots share a data partition and installing a new OS on the unused slot will overwrite it and the old OS won't work anymore. My question is if there is a way around this (e.g. set up two data partitions) and use an A/B device as a "dual boot device".

Thanks for answers in advance!

So if you run up against any issues you would probably not find any help here.

Technically something can be cooked, but depending on the device available ROM and the OS requirements it can be possible or not.
So not a solution UBports is working on as we cannot test or guaranty it will work.

There is a way, HalloWelt is doing this on their volla devices, but this was not shared/ported on other devices.
