I could get ADB going and put the commands in place to have the OEM Unlock done and when i boot to system recovery i can see the open Android mascot logo on the screen for a short period of time.
When i run the installer everything works OK but the phone doesn't restart, once i restart it shows the Ubuntu "System is updating message" which stops after a while and i can see the UBOT Logo and the menus from the recovery mode. Once i restart it reinitializes Android and that's it.
Any thoughts what might be wrong here? The OnePlus btw. shows a Cynogen OS Logo, which pretty much looks like a "normal" Android....
Thx!

I think the Focal channel is currently struggling, it might be good to start with Xenial for now.

I agree with that. Stay with 16.04 stable, that seems to work ok.
