What usb port do you have on your pc?
I had the same problem that have been mentioned by other users in here about the phone not updating instead it entered the recovery mode instead. I tried to change from devel to stable, after that the phone got stuck on google boot screen. I did a lot of thing to get the phone working, and a few stupid once too . When I tried to reinstall the phone it was picked up by the installer but it couldn't reinstall UT. I could install android on it by running the flash-all script in the factory image. Then I remembered something about only using usb2 port on your pc when installing UT. The pc that I was using to install UT had only usb3 ports. So I picked up my old Lenovo laptop that only have usb2 ports. Now the installer worked without any hiccups.
