exFAT on Ubuntu Touch

I installed exfat* packages on my phone through the terminal, but Ubuntu Touch still can't detect my 128GB SD card. Is there a way to do it, or do I have to format it?

UT will only recognize SD cards that are formatted as FAT32. You can use the core External Apps app that comes pre-installed on your UT device to format your SD card - and I have had 128gb cards recognized in full on my Meizu Pro 5 once they are formatted to FAT32.

@TotalSonic That sounds like a bug, UT should be able to detect any file system ubuntu main can detect?

Is this a kernel issue, an Ubuntu Touch OS problem, or a problem with the application itself not showing none FAT32 cards/otg storage options?

Microsoft has released exFAT to introduce it into the Linux kernel, I think it could be added to Ut, so that we can save movies or files of more than 4 Gb...

@Josele13 To be included in UT, it would have to be backported to all the kernels used by the devices UT supports. So primarily 3.4 and 3.10 right now. Only devices based on upstream kernel would be able to get this without any trouble.

Moreover you can also just format an SD card with ext4 if you need >4GiB files, as ext4 has a file size limit far larger than any SD card you can currently purchase.

While I'll agree having exFAT support would be great for compatibility, it's going to be very problematic to get it backported to the kernels we need to run on.

@dobey Thank you very much for clarifying this doubt, we have illusions for Ut but we do not know what makes it work, when we have that possibility, would be very good to have that option to put exFAT to Ut,
