Fairphone 3 (FP3) Port
-
Small Update:
Since today's update, automatic display brightness should work.
Either install latest OTA Update (only if it is smaller than 500MB) or flash one of the lates builds, see first post in this topic.

I am trying to build for FP3 using the instructions at
https://forums.ubports.com/topic/4964/fairphone-3-fp3
I am stuck at this line, as the directory fairphone/sdm632 does not exist.
"missing exfat modules: cd into kernel/fairphone/sdm632 and do: git submodule update --init --recursive"
Under ~/halium/kernel, I only have configs and test.
Did I miss any prerequisite? -
@rd440 Hi, looks like I forgot to mention, that you have to do another
repo sync
after adding the manifest file. Then the sources, given in the manifest, will be downloaded.
For further questions regarding building, please start a new topic, thanks. -
Hi,
I just created an initial post for my FP3+ Port.
Look here: https://forums.ubports.com/post/48578. -
Hey @Luksus, I'm affraid links in first post are broken. Download links give error 404. I managed to navigate through GitLab and download needed files manually from CI but it would be nice to have links working
-
@janez Thanks. I updated the builds and now the links are working again.

Hey @all,
would some of you, with an FP3 and old camera modules, like to try the Halium 10 port and tell me what you are missing compared to the Halium 9 port (this thread)?
If you want to try it, it is probably needed to upgrade your phone to Android 10.
I prepared an Android 10 stock rom in a way, that it will not wipe your userdata partition, which means that you should be able to use your phone as before after flashing the Halium 10 port or reflashing with Halium 9 or whatever...If you are not using Ubuntu Touch currently, it is possible that a data wipe is needed to make UT start.
It is still always recommended to have a backup of your data!
You can download it here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=7161016148664787652
Extract it, boot your phone into fastboot mode and execute the "flash_all" script, which matches your OS.
Then you need to stay at fastboot mode and flash the latest system and boot images (which need to be extracted) from this download:
https://gitlab.com/luksus42/fairphone_fp3/-/jobs/artifacts/halium-10.0/download?job=devel-flashableIf you want to revert to the Halium 9 image, then it should be enough to flash the android 9 stock vendor image (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=7161016148664787632) to the vendor partition and then flash the latest images from the initial post of this thread.

I cannot download this file:

@luksus now its downloading after 10 times.....crazy
-
@fp2andfp3-user I tried it yesterday and it began to download...I have no clue what was going on on your side.

@Luksus short Feedback:
I have updated my FP3 from halium 9 to halium 10 explained by your description.Ubuntu touch is starting without wiping userdata.
Camera is working...
I will give you more Feedback the next days -
@luksus some Further feedback:
Mobile data and calling runs much better also With dual sim.
There is no ota update? I get no infos since 5 days and its in dev mode?!
All apps are running normal, which i have tested.Great improvement is battery drain. With halium 9 max. 15-20 h. With halium 10 3-4 days!
-
@fp2andfp3-user your devices long lasting battery on H10 is surprising as well as the battery drain on H9.
I get something about 40h on both.
But of course, it is a matter of usage und what connection types are used.No, there is no OTA yet. It is the dev channel version from the day, when the built was build.
I am currently working on making it available for OTAs and ubports installer. -
Hey @all,
For your information, I will drop support for this specific Halium 9 Port in the near future, in favor of the Halium 10 Port, which works for both FP3 and FP3+ devices.
The only feature, which is not working yet in H10 compared to H9, is the fingerprint reader...
To switch to the Halium 10 version, It will be needed to upgrade your device to Android 10 again and afterwards installing UT using the ubports installer.
Currently we only have a dev-build for Halium 10. So maybe you should not switch, if you want to use a stable Ubuntu Touch build...I will inform here again, when the installer is ready to use.

@luksus Hi Luksus, thanks for your great work!
Just got a used FP3 and eager to install UT on it.
Is there something I can contribute? -
@homer Hello guys,
I installed Ubuntu Touch on the FP3 using ubports installer. Everything went smoothly with installation.My only issues with the FP3:
-
Very(!) very slow charging: In 2 hours it adds ~5% to the battery charge. Not even overnight is enough to fully charge. Tested several different charges with the same result.
-
Fast discharge, even in standby:
Before with android 10 the standby runtime on a single charge was 4 days, now it discharges fully in ca. 30hrs.
Regarding 1) I read in several places that an upgrade in Android 10 caused this slow charging for other FP3 users running stock Android. Could this be connected?

@homer hi,
I only encountered charging issues, when I did some tests with waydroid. But after a reboot this was solved in most cases.
Did you install waydroid or Anbox?Here is a screenshot of my battery-usage, actually it is charging very fast...
-
Hi,
I tried 4 different chargers, same result. After some x timed of unplugging and plugging back in, at some point fast charging works.
Strangely, when I take the cable feom the charger and plug the phone with the cable intu my linux laptop, it always works right away. -
@homer and did you use anbox/waydroid or not?
