Smartwatch sync app

Hi! I'm JF002, the creator of InfiniTime! I received a PM about this app, and I have to say I'm really happy to know that a companion app is being developed for UBPorts, and to see so many PineTime users in this community!
I see that many of you experience issues connecting the watch to the phone. We are aware of issues around BLE connectivity in InfiniTime: unexpected disconnections and difficulties to pair the watch to the phone are the most common. What are currently trying to analyze those issues, but debugging BLE is really not easy. You can follow our discussions here, or join us in the PineTime chat rooms (you'll find the link on the pine64 website.
Until we find fixes for these issues, the best workaround is to reset the watch (keep the button pushed for ~10s). BLE should be working again after the reboot.
Let me know if I can be of any help with this project! I'll also probably try this app soon on my PinePhone

@jf002 Hi JF002! Thank you for creating InfiniTime. Using the PineTime with InfiniTime actually pushed me to try my hands on my first ever QML app. I got the opportunity to learn so much and of course I am still learning and experimenting.
I am always happy to receive feedback and help especially with the BLE part, as I am sure, I am doing many things wrong or at least not the best way.

Would it work with a Huawei band 4 watch? I'd love to try this!!
-
@rebecca58 should work on any phone with ubuntu touch

From my understanding this app will NOT work with watches running Wear (Android/Google), Harmony (Huawei) or Tizen (Samsung) OS's.

@jiho PineTime here updated to InfiniTime 1.4.0 and has bootloader 1.0.0. Tested it with android for connection etc What do I need to do to get your app running on PinePhone UT ce. Is it a staraight forward download or a bit more involved. Sorry but still not very good with apps that are in early stages and stuff.
-
@lakotaubp It should be enough to just install the app and then add the device.
You don't have to pair the device through the app, in case you have issues pairing, you can also use system settings. If you did that, you'll just have to add the PineTime to the app. It'll tell you that it will try to pair with InfiniTime but it will recognize that it was previously paired and will just add it to the list. -
@jiho This might seem like a daft question but what exactly am I looking for to download. I can see zip and such files for downloading source code but nothing that to me screams .click or such. As I said not very good at early stage stuff all those files confuse me.
-
@lakotaubp Sorry, I misunderstood. Download the artifact.zip from here https://gitlab.com/jiiho/uwatch/-/jobs/1508014704/artifacts/download?file_type=archive unpack it and in there should be the click file.

@jiho Thanks thats great all sorted on the install just the pairing to go. Fingers crossed.
-
@lakotaubp Hey just wanted to say sorry about earlier I totally miss read your question. I thought you were refrencing a phone not a watch
-
@bradman1171 That was @Rebecca58 not me

@jiho Detected on both OP5 and Pine but no pair through app or System Settings (which detects but says no signal) will retry tomorrow. Thanks for the help anyway.
-
@jiho Finally got in. Took numerous restarts of app and OP5 and still not sure what did it but on tried to connect just as pine cone nearly finished going green. All working well. Worked out that if PineTime was connected to another device that showed the no signal in UT. PineTime connects to the Allow connection button but will not accept connection. More fun for later. Thanks for your time and effort on this.
-
@lakotaubp I am glad it worked. I noticed getting problems pairing the device after flashing the firmware version 1.3.0
-
@rebecca58 I did add default BLE uuids to the app. If the watch supports them, SOME things should work, IF you are able to pair the watch and the watch supports them.
It all depends on how the manufacturer implemented the functionality and if you are able to pair the watch. The only way to communicate that is currently implemented in the app, is BLE.
However, the chances that it just works... Are not very high....

Hey @jiho app is working well so far on firmware 1.4. Connection is holding steady so far, love your work!
-
Installed the app on my Nexus 5 today, and it works like a charm. Connected through the app at second attempt. So far I have not been able to connect with my Xiaomi Mi A2.
-
The one thing I have noticied is that the initial connection is now quicker and lasts longer on the OP5 with 1.4 Once that connection drops out it will not re-connect. The OP5 says connected for about a second then it drops out. So without investigating further I suspect the PineTime is rejecting the connection, which is a known issue at ther end.
Still no connection on PinePhone but that may be a permission problem with the phone also known about. -
Hello ! I don't know if that's any help but I tried your app on a Garmin smartwatch. It's detected under a different name (which I guess is the BT dongle or sth) but i does connect to some extent: sometimes through the normal connection process, sometimes when the watch isn't in pairing mode (but BT on, of course).
In both cases, the app doesn't seem to access the data - it displays heartrate and steps monitor, but that's it - they're empty. On another hand I don't use smartwatches usually, so maybe these are data that only display after some time on the phone. Anyway that's a great initiative, best luck !
