If it's coming to Kai, than maybe it can come to UT too? We know that the unavailability of WhatsApp is an impediment to the uptake of UT for many people...

@3arn0wl KaiOS is apparently shipped on 100 million devices (according to their claim, though I've never seen one in person myself).

So either that was sufficient, or KaiOS paid WhatsApp for it. I still doubt there would be any interest from WhatsApp for UT now. You are welcome to contact them and tell them you would like to see even the simpler KaiOS app available on UT.
