Is there any way to get mobile data internet off?
-
@sorath72 Just curious, are there really plan nowadays, which has that expensive data included? Actually even the cheapest plan has nowadays unlimited data included.

Very quick and easy to do. Access Network Settings by pulling down from the top, select Mobile Settings, Slide Cellular data to off.

@WLBI I pay for 2GB a month, my partner pays for 20GB a month. Data in the UK is only unlimited on expensive contracts. I have unlimited minutes and texts.
-
@Mark Oh is it really?
For me this in UK seems to be cheap: https://www.4g.co.uk/news/unlimited-data/
In Germany I am paying for my contract since almost 3 years 29 Euro monthly, unlimited calls, unlimited text and 15 GB 4G speed. If I am over that 15 GB monthly, I have still unlimited data, but only 3G speed.
But to be true, 3G speed is still enough to watch on YouTube Full HD videos. -
@WLBI I'm too mean to pay £34 a month when I can get away with £14

That may be true in your country, but please do not assume it is the same in all other countries.
In Canada we are getting ripped off by phone companies (ISP's as well). Unlimited data is only available with expensive plans.
Actually I just had a quick look at two providers, neither offers unlimited data, the most is up to 12GB a month for $85 CAD (59€). In any case, many of us absolutely do not want to spend as much money on mobile service.

Don't you get straighttalk and suchlike in Canada ?
-
@Marathon2422
I have no idea what straighttalk is. -
@normandc
just an mvno/ via AT&T and Tmobile ,consumer cellular and stuff like that,,amounts of data vary with each one -
I have H2O Wireless (uses AT&T Network) with a SIM card and get unlimited data on my Nexus 5. I pay $28 (Twenty-Eight) a month with no contract for free long distance, unlimited text, etc. I get faster speeds for a certain amount of GBytes then the slower speeds later, but it is all free. I turn on my Nexus 5 hotspot and get internet on my Mac at 72.2 Mbps. H2O said it's okay to do that. I tried on my iPhone awhile back, but would have had to jailbreak it they said. My Nexus 5 is my full time everyday phone and I like it better especially for the cheap internet. I'm not going back to iPhone. My next computer might be FreeBSD, too. Sorry Apple.
