Generic USB Display driver

Interesting news. If I understand this correctly, this could potentially enable external displays for convergence even for phones without display out on USB and should be more more compatible and performant than Wifi casting.
Just needs a SBC or similar device with a USB in and a HDMI out that can run Linux. A RPI-Zero is apparently sufficient. Or a cheap mini TV box that can work as a docking station for your phone.
I hope this is something that can be implemented in UT as there are sadly so many otherwise nicely working phones that lack display-port or slimport output.

Even if this makes it into upstream kernel and becomes a feasible alternative to having a Slimport adapter, it would still require significant work to backport it to the very old kernel versions that many devices are relying upon.

Looks like this is actually happening and coming to Linux Kernel 5.9 / 5.10
Sadly unlikely that it could be backported to ancient 3.x kernels though.
