Of the Ubports channels for N5 devel_rc-proposed is definitely the better choice at this point in time.
-
@Thatoo Thanks for the link. Sound promising, as M. Gripsgard also mentions...:

As said at https://opensourceforu.com/2017/01/ubuntu-touch-gets-full-compatibility-nexus-5/ : "And for Nexus 5 that's now a fully working device, I even use it as my daily driver at the moment :)"
Really ? There is a fully usable build now ?
See You ;-))
-
I've tried the 217 on devel_rc-proposed, and almost everything works fine (just one restart) except that I can't receive phone call (which is a problem for a phone :-).
I have a feeling that soon, we'll be able to switch (me from Firefox OS) to Ubuntu touch. -
:-))
-
New builds !!!!
/ubuntu-touch/devel_stable/hammerhead ==> Version 14 (OTA-14 ?)
/ubuntu-touch/devel_rc-proposed/hammerhead ==> Version 219Someone tested it ?
-
Not yet. I will try the 219 this week end then and let you know.
-
So impatient, I flash the /ubuntu-touch/devel_stable/hammerhead
Everything seems to work but...
Incoming call don't work but calls are ok
Lost of wifi on reboot but works
Date & Time set to 01/01/1970 on bootWeb Browser works fine & quickly !!!
sms works (mms not tested)
uNav works after install but no signal (Maybe because I'm indoor)It smell good Folks :--))
-
I just try too the /ubuntu-touch/devel_rc-proposed/hammerhead build
Unfortunately, everything's fine like the /devel_stable/ build but incoming calls still don't works... -
Build 220 - dev-rc-proposed, what didn't working:
- encrypted wifi
- if you touch something from webbrowser UI like "back button" or you decidet to add more tabs, it freezes.
- battery lvl didn't work properly
- after reboot (it works fine! Even the shutting down) clock and data sets to 1970 etc.
- Nobody can call to me
- music player - distorts the signal from the speaker at the higher volume lvl
- sometimes I need to push power on button many times to unlock device
- ugly camera quality
System is stable, after three days of use it does not hang even once.
Sorry for my english, greetings from Poland!
-
thank you for that feedback
-
I've got one more bug. I don't have internet via 3g/4g and I can't get to 3g/4g connection type in system settings.
Edit:
After reeboot sytem forgets wifi connection
-
I've installed 221. I can't see any changement with problems that Tomacaster had with 220.
-
Youpi !!!
As you can see, after the announcement of Cannonical to stop everything until the advent of Snap, no more dev on repo...
Cool ! For sure, This will help us to trust all projects around UB !
!!! THANKS YOU ALL !!! -
Good news everyone!
Browser works!
Battery lvl seems to be fine!
You can call me now!
Music sounds great!
Not sure, but camera doin' a bit better pics!Still forgets wifi, time.
Funny thing. I managed to connect to the encrypted network after reboot with plane mode, but after next reboot encryption didn't work.
There is a big progress but some cases need to be solved! Anyway im happy
-
That's great to hear! I'll have to give dev-rc-proposed a try. Thanks!
-
Nice, nice, sounds good...
-
I flashed devel rc proposed. WIFI could not connect to network with passcode. After several reboots it finally connected. Data connection does not work. Browser works and does not crash.
I can call, receive sms, use camera etc.
So I have to wait when 3g connection is fixed
-
hi! yes i see good progress in stability. in my nexus 5 i can't see the correct battery lvl for the others bugs i can confirm the same
-
Can confirm that on stable installed today via UBports that Browser and many other apps still will not open or run.
Interesting though as I tried to use a few channels and they all resulted in the same faults. No apps would start other than calculator. It is such a shame as I really really love the look and feel how Ubuntu Touch works on this Nexus. Used to have it on a Nexus 4 when it was a little less buggy. However hats off to you Marius for all the work you and all the others have put in to this. I had to reflash Android back on as I need a little functionality other than SMS
However what is odd is how much is or seems broken on these on my Nexus...the sound is gone and obvious the bluetooth is bust but I expected that with the notes you have provided. What is less clear is why the battery drain is so huuuuuuge and all the issues with power off/on.
How did you resolve these on your daily driver. Is it just an older image that was more reliable or just me?
Anyway thanks for the work so far. I will stay involved and contribute some cash as I really appreciate the work so far on this.
What is really good is:
Website and wiki
Installation process
The look and feel of what does workSo it makes it something I want to come back to with a reliable build. I remember when testing Chromium OS a few years ago there was a way to mark a build that are extra strong and reliable. Would this be possible or would it take resources?
