Disabling the status bar using smart dock.

When i check the option to hide the status bar, it says it needs to restart, but when it does the window goes away and nothing is changed.
Is there a alternate way of getting rid of that status bar? or is there some way to get smart dock to apply the settings.

Getting fed up of having to scroll through the same posts each visit?
