I recently got a refurbished Fairphone 4 on which I want to install Ubuntu Touch. It shipped with Android 13. I understand that I need to downgrade to Android 11 before installing UT.

Before downgrading, is there any merit to first upgrading to the newest Android version (Android 15), e.g. to get some firmware security updates for underlying hardware which might survive the downgrade and the UT install? Or is there no such merit? Or, perhaps, does a full upgrade activate some kind of downgrade protection which might hinder the downgrade to Android 11 and the UT install?

TL;DR: Is it safe and potentially beneficial to upgrade to the latest Android and then downgrade to Android 11, or is it better to downgrade to Android 11 right away?

@zeust No, just downgrade and then install UT.
