I was just wondering if users of UBports in the U.S. received the presidential alert? John McAfree was suggesting that the alert could access the E911 chip in the phone, "giving them full access to your location, microphone, camera, and every function of your phone."
Is this true even for UBports devices?
I don't know that it's true for any devices. But well, such a chip even existing in the phone would already give government that access. The stupid "presidential alert" would have nothing to do with it.
John McAfee is someone I would suggest you shouldn't listen to.
Oh, and every phone connected to the network at the time of the signal, would have received the alert. However, Ubuntu Touch does not yet handle emergency alert notifications (Cell Broadcast). There is an open issue on it though.
Thanks for the reassurance, @dobey
