I am interested in writing apps for the Volla phone running Ubuntu Touch. Saw that I would need to spend $3500.00 to get a license to use QT. Are there other cheaper GUI's I can use for developing apps for Ubuntu Touch like Fyne etc.... Company will not allow me to spend $3500 to start working on QT.

There is no need to buy a license for qt. It is open-source under a FOSS license.

There is some ongoing developments that the main company developing qt is putting newer additions for some time behind a paywall, but that doesn't change the fact that the currently available qt code is perfectly fine to use for free (& libre).

Fairphone 5 (Not yet installed UT on it though)
