[Porting] Call for Testers
-
I've got a spare Pixel XL that I'd like to test! I won't be able to test out anything that requires service, such as SMS/MMS or calls, though.
-
@mackeveli Thats fine, radio operations should work on both variants the same way. Its more about sensors, camera, GPS etc....
-
@flohack Awesome, I'll be able to help those things easily. Looking forward to it.

when will the rom for the pixel come out I'm too interested

Very good, already a bunch of test users. I am preparing a few things to make your life easier, in the meantime, if you have any data on the phone that needs to be backed up, do it (externally). Due to the nature of AndroidΒ΄s data encryption we need to format the data partition, and that means loosing all data there

Hi
I have a Pixel (sailfish) 128gb I'm ready to put onto a spare device whenever.
What kind of tests will you need to run?
-
@flohack I've got a pixel that I was literally just about to start testing this on, you can reach out to me for testing stuff as well!
-
I have Pixel, and I am willing to help too!
-
Also have a pixel and would be happy to test. Only thing is the bluetooth is broken on it so wonβt be able to test that.
-

Okay so thank you for subscribing so far
We are are ready for the first round of tests. Please be aware that this is really work in progress, so for example today I found out that modem communication has stopped, you can only use WiFi so far
Also, a weird thing: WiFi sometimes races on startup and then you will find no APs in the list. Try to reboot until you get a good indication of APs and WiFi symbol is being shown correctly.
Generic instructions you can find here: https://pad.ubports.com/p/HaliumHowToTestInstall
The images you need you will find here: https://twoot.bin.org.in/nextcloud/index.php/s/iAZDDkRYYAiN6Kk
After the initial steps of course, only the last part with halium-install will be relevant in the future. That will save some time. I also plan to publish the script that does just replace the system image, so you dont need always to replace the whole rootfs.
Device checklist: https://gitlab.com/ubports/community-ports/general/-/blob/master/DeviceChecklist.md
Let me know if that makes sense.
