      Anyway... nevermind

You're welcome, I'm glad I could help by answering your question about the possibility of battery exchange on the Oneplus 5t. My pleasure.

      Is currently using an Op5t
Also owns an Op1, a BQ E4.5 and an Xperia X, as well as a BQ tablet and a Pinetab2. Please, someone... make it stop.

@nero355 Just saying the port is finished for the 5T and 5, today I added Waydroid patches. There is no reason to not use the device as daily just because I am not able to change stuff ^^ we have had devices in the past where there was no need to change anything for years. After all its only about getting all hardware features to work.

As it has kernel 4.4 or so its also likely to be compatible with 20.04 later - its a good device, and the one with the least power drain I ever had in my hands πŸ˜‰

But still that's a thing that worries me a bit :

Will there ever be a time when you can say even to the most novice users that they can buy phones A+B+C+D+E without any issue because those phones are currently maintained by a couple of developers who will make sure that any bugs get wiped a.s.a.p. so that the phones are 99,99% reliable daily devices running Ubuntu Touch ?!

I was kind of hoping we were heading that way a bit with mainly your own recent ports of the Google Pixel and OnePlus 5/5T phones ?? πŸ˜‰

Currently it's either buy a very old phone from someone and hope it still works or buy a new expensive Volla Phone which doesn't work as it should yet but is more or less useable... πŸ˜•

Hmm... OK... thanks for the info! πŸ™‚

@nero355 Novice users should always buy phones with UT already flashed in the factory. We have so many pitfalls if someone is not technically inclined that can make flashing the OS with the installer an unpleasant experience.

Well idk if such times will come, hopefully in the future there will be more vendors that sell UT from factory, but who knows? We also cannot compete with those $150 Android phones that are locked up and are throw-away phones basically, but they set a standard over years that everybody thinks a phone can be cheap and powerful AND secure at the same time πŸ™‚

OK, but then we need more options than there are currently...

                However...

Even those phones (and let's not forget tablets!) are getting more powerfull each year!

Something as simple as the Snapdragon 480 SoC is now shipped in cheap phones with up to 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of Storage : That would make a nice Ubuntu Touch phone and perhaps even a very nice Convergence phone! πŸ˜‰

                (Or tablet... :grinning_squinting_face: )

NOW you tell me?! Well it's too late now! πŸ˜„

(Seriously, now: on the device page, and elsewhere, there is a lot of encouragement and talk about how easy to use the installer is. Reading that, I definitely got the idea that this was something I could try, as a complete newcomer. It all turned out well in my case...)

@moem The installer is super awesome but struggles with certain type of locked phones, and also unconventional partition layouts and formats.

If we would add more checks that guide the users what to do next it can be Newbie-safe, but it needs more edge-case detection and such πŸ˜‰

@flohack I'm sure you're right. But I'm less sure that the website adequately reflects that. It gave me more of an impression of being newbie-safe than I'm getting from you now.

Luckily I stumbled into the right phone, and had a very survivable first experience!

                        Re: [Porting] Call for Testers

                        Hi everybody.

I'm happy to announce that I managed to flash my OnePlus 5t with the astonishing and lovely good working piece of Open Source Software that Ubuntu Touch actually is.
                        I experience the following bugs:

                        • volume of any sound on the Device is very low
                        • whenever I try to hang up a call, the phone app crashes. I have to stop the program from running while the call continues, then I am able to hang up after I start the app again.

If there is anything I could do to help with more testing, please let me know.
