        Hey all,
Does anyone know if there is speech-to-text being developed for UT for the OnePlus 6T? I mainly want to use it for texting, by speaking my texts into the messaging app...
        Thanks and Cheers!

@raydantheman unfortunately there isn't any app nor feature like that in UT, sorry. Nobody started any work in this regard yet. There was some initial work to port to UT the opensource assistant myCroft, but it remained no more than a showcase.

Probably that needs cloud services as the local device will not be able to store all of that and I assume thats also how Google is doing that.

Also Mycroft would have been a cloud service only, not a local offline method.

You can run Kaldi-based ASR on UBports. This solution needs no Internet and preserves privacy. I am using this for German and English. But this is not an app, only a tool for converting wav files to text.

@sven tried to download files using terminal, but I obviously don't understand the proper syntax to do that, 'cause it didn't work based on the command line on the kaldi asr page. Is there another way to download or run that?

@melu9wuv Kaldi is a toolkit and far from an easy installation. If more people are interested, I can share a recipe, mabye including ASR models for EN and DE.

I hope more people are interested--the faster and easier the data input, ultimately, the greater overall adoption of this competitive architecture will be.
