Endless DNS hits on dash.ubuntu.com
-
I looked into this after some comments on this forum, and yes, the phone is just endlessly trying to resolve the (apparently end-of-life'ed) name dash.ubuntu.com. I added a mapping to localhost in /etc/hosts to quiet all those requests. It also asks about daisy.ubuntu.com on a regular basis, so I nipped that one too, and we'll see what breaks.

Top banana!
That should certainly fix it for now - how odd of it to keep asking for it... Sounds almost Google-like!

@vandys can you make an issue on ubports/ubuntu-touch Github, so that we might schedule this for one of the next updates? Thx

@vandys Do we know what API services were running at
dash.ubuntu.com
? I know that daisy is their error collecting/reporting system (think apport collector) and is likely to be unhelpful to us unless we have the funding to deploy loads of postgres and storage to have our own services of Whoopsy and Daisy deployed. I'm fairly certain that there are charms for these.A cursory search of the charm store yields an older release
But again, I don't think we would need something of this magnitude until we are ready to collect automated crash reports when a user gives consent.

@lazypower It looks like
dash.ubuntu.com
was for cursory services around the default scopes as well as music thumbnailing. Should be removed if it isn't working for sure. -
See https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch/issues/327 - this is for the next OTA-3 and its already marked as done
