      Hi,

since I'm a linux user, that more than 10 years now,
I'm very interested on this ubuntu touch,
have often installed different custom roms on my phones which I had (n900, htc, samsung, sony, honour..).

The problem I have with this ubuntu is that many apps won't work on ubuntu, or not exist, so you have to need this emulators like waydroid or anbox, or how the all named ...

Is it now possible to install waydroid on this Ubuntu Touch version to use android apps instantly, or will it also maybe implemented into this rom?
Does maybe anyone has some experiences with waydroid or anbox on ub touch on the FP3+

      Thanks for request

      alex

            Many thanks for the posts,
maybe I will give it a try next weekend...
just one question, does waydroid also support things
like bluetooth or so? I want to use a android phone app, for my watch.
And maybe want to use some drone software on Android(Waydroid)...😁

            Is this supported?

And sorry for that maybe silly question, I wanted to test Waydroid under my Debian distro, but it doesn't work, could it run in the background and you'll get messages from maybe Whatsapp or Telegram, or other services under android?

Bluetooth "in" wayland doesn't work for me. I tried with different kind of material like headset, keyboard, music speaker...

I was eager to try with Blabber for this purpose (Movim isn't OK under Ubuntu Touch ... it doesn't work for me) and if it's not open in wayland and wayland not in "front of" your phone, you don't received alerts .. Wayland and your app should be running and your phone "awake" !!!
For instance also if you wath a video through wayland your phone will fall asleep except if you take off your screensaver within UT.

Another thing, you can't access to your SD Card.

@homer There are still some quirks:

                    • when starting waydroid, there are two windows in the end, one with lineage os, the other black, which can be closed
                    • after closing the lineage/waydroid window, it cannot be started again. You need to restart the container service first: sudo service waydroid-container restart
                      • the same goes for starting Android apps directly from the app drawer

So I try to leave at least one waydroid window opened, if I don't want to restart the container again.

The whole window handling is not yet perfect.
But still, if you know the quirks, you can work around it and it works apart from that very well.

The behavior is hard to explain, perhaps someone or myself can do some video to show the current state...

Devices: BQ e4.5, Fairphone 2, Fairphone 3, Lenovo X605, Pinephone, Moto Z2 Force

One of solution I use everyday and quite easy is the folowwing one :
Waydroid ... how to shut it down ?

Telegram has a Native Linux Client in case you did not know yet! 😉
