@soulrock Maybe a kernel patch issue?

WayDroid and it's intergration in Ubuntu Touch is still in an early pre-alpha development stage. It might be buggy or simply unusable...

If you use Telegram, you get get assistance in the WayDroid user group:

@stanwood I am on the Telegram channel. Some questions have been resolved, but yesterday I asked a couple of times and no one answered.

I have not used any patch or anything and I have already tried to search on my own to see if I could find a solution and nothing, that's why I ended up asking here

            My best guess is :

            • WiFi doesn't like beeing Bridged with the Waydroid interface for some reason...
            • DATA Modem doesn't mind that at all.

Does that make sense ?! 🙂

            My phones :

            • BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Phone Edition - Ubuntu Touch 16.04 LTS
            • ZUK Z2 Pro - ZUI Android 8.x
            • Xiaomi Mi 9T - Jolla SailFish 3.4.x Community Build

            P.S. : I am NOT a developer! ;)

@soulrock Apps in WayDroid use the default Ubuntu Touch WiFi to connect.
WayDroid WiFi or Bluetooth can NOT be turned on due to conflicts reasons.

It's by now not possible to use apps depending on WiFi or Bluetooth (to control IoT devices for example).

                @stanwood I don't think I can explain myself.

My problem is that when starting waydroid, if I have the phone connected to the Wi-Fi network, the phone freezes and reboots.

If I have it connected by mobile data, it starts without problem

I can't start waydroid if the phone is connected via WiFi.

I am not activating the wifi from waydroid

@soulrock I didn't face this issue on Vollaphone, and have no idea of what can it be...
So you might ask for help on the official Telegram group I guess...(?) Or maybe someone else here can help you?

Sorry to not be able to help you further...

@soulrock From my very low technical knowledge, the only thing I can advise you is to try to reinstall WayDroid:

But first try to check if a new WayDroid image is available:

                      waydroid upgrade

If this does not fix anything, reinstall WayDroid:

                      waydroid session stop
                      sudo waydroid container stop
                      sudo rm -rf /var/lib/waydroid /home/.waydroid ~/waydroid ~/.share/waydroid ~/.local/share/applications/*aydroid* ~/.local/share/waydroid

                      Reboot device then:

                      sudo apt remove waydroid

                      Reboot device then:

                      sudo -s
                      sudo mount -o remount,rw /
                      apt update
                      apt install waydroid -y
                      waydroid init
                      ubports-qa install xenial_-_fixwindowreopen

                      Reboot device

                      And try again

@soulrock So I checked with Rudi.
He just told me that this device hasn't got the appropriate kernel patch, this explains why you have some issues.

Please contact the porter, or wait until a fix comes in a future OTA update.

@stanwood Ota from Ubuntu system or waydroid system?
                            Either way, I'll wait patiently.

                            Thanks a lot

@soulrock From OTA. Hoping the porter will add those kernel patches to be deployed in a future OTA release.

@soulrock Go in the title, "tools for subject" than "Ask a question", than "tools for subject again", than "Mark as solved"

By the way, I encourage you to email the porter. For your device there's no commit since 14 months. So maybe the porter does not work anymore on this device (maybe...)

@soulrock said in Waydroid reboots my phone connected by wifi:

after about 10 seconds it freezes and the phone reboots itself.

Hi, I would like to ask, this is happening on vanilla waydroid or you installed some additional apps already?

Maybe some package from GApps can cause the problem, because I have similar experience with Facebook Messenger installation. It runs after installation without problem, sending messages, taking and sharing pictures etc., but after next waydroid start (after cca 5 seconds) the app freezes the whole system. Anyway I didn't try to turn off wifi and use cellular data instead to check if it's the same problem.
