      Hello πŸ™‚

I wanted to port this a while ago, noticed its too difficult for me and now I want to give it another try. Sadly i have to set up everything again.

I remember that there was another herolte for the edge version of the galaxy s7 and i cant find it anymore.. so before i do everything for nothing: Can I use the standard herolte version for the Galaxy s7 edge?

Or do i need another old phone because this one is hopeless?

Greetings, and happy new Year πŸ™‚

@tabimon It all depends on the hardware. Use the lineage sources, the lineage device info pages, and the ubports gitlab to find that out. I found out that the a5y17lte is the exact same as a7y17lte in terms of requirements for a bootable image.

I realize this thread is a year old, but I have successfully ported installed an S7 Edge SM-G935F (Exynos 8890 Variant) to with Ubuntu 20.04 devel version using the UBPorts Installer for hero2lte. "herolte" is for Exynos S7 flat variants, use "hero2lte" for Exynos S7 Edge

You can find the installer in the link below:
          https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/hero2lte

The windows 10 installer failed to detect my device in download mode (libusb error: -12). So I had to flash the os with the Linux edition of UBPorts-Installer using a virtual machine (Oracle Virtual Box with Ubuntu 20.04).

@007 just to get the terminologies straight: "porting" is the hard work of preparing a version of UT for a particular device. What you did is install an already prepared port on your device.

I have not been able to install UT onto a Samsung device with Windows. I always use my Ubuntu machine and it always works. It is a driver thing.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.... And more...
              I have too many devices...
