        Hello,

I have a vollaphone that I use for a while as a daily driver. I'm running 20.04 (2023-W13). For the past 2 days, I have had the following issue. Whenever I put the phone in suspend mode , it crashes on resume. When resuming the normal lock screen appears for 2-3 sec, then a black screen, then the ubuntu loader runs for ever.

I've tried to reinstall the firmware (without wiping out userdata), I get the same result.

It makes the phone almost unusable.

        Any idea?
        Thanks a lot in advance.

@pparent76 Two ideas. Is there a stable channel for your device? Try that first. If not, try the devel channel.

@arubislander said in Vollaphone constantly crashes when resuming from suspend/sleep mode:

re a stable channel for you

Yes, before I used rc chanel, without doing anything the problem appeared. So today I have reflashed to stable chanel. Without any difference. But everything was working fine before, I did not do anything, I don't understand why it suddenly stops working out of the blue.

I will try devel chanel now

              @arubislander
I get exactly the same problem with devel chanel.

I wonder wether it could be a shock that damaged the device physically that could cause that. Sounds strange that it would affect specifically the resume and still allow to see the lock screen of few seconds and then the ubuntu loader.

Or maybe something is wrong with my user partition and I should wipe it out, but it would cause me a lot of hassle.

@pparent76 If you get the same on all three channels, then yes, it must be something in your user partition.

Can you recall installing some application before this started happening? Maybe some indicator or tweak or something?

Also do you have any logs (not sure where to look for those)?

Ps: if after the crash I let it run for few minutes often it eventually succeeds in loading the lock screen again, and the phone works again (but still crashes at next resume).

@arubislander No really I've not touched anything recently.

Actually the only thing I remember is that this morning for the first time I heard my alarm clock for only few seconds as the resume, provoked a crash.

But I've really not been on my phone recently, I have not installed or tweaked anything.

Also I've just noticed something strange, if I go to settings , and I try to change anything related to footprint authentication, the setting app crashes. It's possible that I have an issue with the footprint reader (for example, a shock damaged it).

Ok well I can confirm this was the issue , I've succeeded in setting passwords authentication, and it stops crashing. At least that. But this is kind of annoying that I cannot use fingerprint authentication aymore.

@pparent76 Well, sorry about your fingerprint reader, but glad you narrowed it down.
Is your phone still under warranty? Maybe you could get it serviced?
