      @Lakotaubp
One developer told me he is not using OP6 anymore. and the porter SEVRALT wrote me the following statement on telegram:

      2ed71da1-ef1d-434e-938e-cc62c719ce1f-grafik.png
Which sounds to me pretty much as a "no".

Are the porters - let's say - responsible for their device? I thought there is a bigger community than 1 person per device. Maybe I don't understand the structure very well.

@Hugehead That can be pretty much how it goes for a few devices. There is a commitment of time and effort needed to keep ports going and if the main porter for a device stops for what ever reason that can be it.
Please remember that except for a very few everyone here is giving their time for free. So if for whatever reason they stop and no-one else takes up a device development stops.
We do have a small core team of devs who will concentrate on the OS itself and a few core devices. That really is all that can be covered the rest is down to volunteers.
Bit of a simple overview but the basic outlook. Notch support is being worked on and there is a basic work around linked to on the forum (use the search function to find it). I have found out that is should be possible for the indicator to work as on other devices but it will need device specific work as you have found out.

Thank you very much for the explanation. I was actually not aware of that "strict" porters idea, thought that maybe 10-20 volunteers are porting a device somehow together part by part and that i might could have taken a small part like the LED.

Please remember that except for a very few everyone here is giving their time for free.

Totally clear, I also spend hours of testing and re-flashing (not comparable to the porters I guess). But I didn't really came further in terms of notification LED.

the OP6 is from 2018, which means the notch support could have come during the last 4-5 years. Not being there. I am doubting that there will be something coming soon AND it needs device specific work, which is , as we see, hard at this time.

I am coming from a company where I work in high class customer support. Main goal is always to give reliable information/timeline to our customers very fast. Maybe i am a little too pushy on free/open source project with my expectations. I am learning 🙂

Oh goodness. I wish you were right, we'd have so many volunteers if you had been!

Does it flash after a missed call or text or voicemail message?
Is that what it's there for? No?
... on UT Xenial it worked very well and was very practical.

You know what, I'm not absolutely certain either way. But I'll keep an eye on it.

@vince-vs Yes, the led works for notifications on the OP5T.

And regarding your idea of 10 people working together on the port of a device, they all would ideally need to have that device so they can test. And who is going to pay for those devices?
Just to give you one idea why this is not very likely to happen this way, for your understanding. Because I believe, understanding the reasons is important.

Not sure though, what the porter means with "wait for implementation in os side". Ubuntu Touch does definitely allow notification led and supports it. I did have that on my old BQ E5, on my Xperia X and now on my OP5T. I understood this to need device specific enabling. But I am no porter.
Some devices ship camera software within the camera, others only rely on the OS. So it might be a case of this. For some devices led works out of the box, for others it doesn't. But again, just the guesses of a non-porter.

                          Hello,
I think this was a suggestion from someone else ( I want as many as possible ... , lol )
I also had a BQ E5 with UT installed by default; it worked well, and also for led notifications.
As I wrote, on my OnePlus 5T the led notifications worked with UT 16.04 and do not work with UT 20.04.
You say that on your OPT5 the led works ( Focal ?? ), I may have to reinstall UT 20.04 Focal ...
                          Have a nice day

@vince-vs Yes. On my OP5T it works. But now you mention it, yes, there was a time when it did not work. I am on focal devel channel. Maybe there was a fix that has not landed in other channels yet. But doing a fresh flash can not harm.

Try flashing without wipe first, to keep your data. Or try changing the channel (and go back if you like). In the worst case try a full flash.

I can report that today I reinstalled the latest RC update on my Op5t, and it seems to have fixed several problems, and one of them is the notification LED! I now get a slow blinking green LED when there are notifs in the notification list and the screen is off.

                                Hello,
I prefer not to "play" too much with upgrades and reinstallations, so
I'll get back to you when ota 4 is available and installed to let you know if there's any progress on the LED notification.
                                Best regards
