Notification LED

I was actually not aware of that "strict" porters idea, thought that maybe 10-20 volunteers are porting a device somehow together part by part
Oh goodness. I wish you were right, we'd have so many volunteers if you had been!

You said : All works on the OP5
.. not on my OPT5, and see :

You are using or have used an OPT5:
Did the led notification work on your phone ? -

It depends... what are you expecting it to do?
-
Does it flash after a missed call or text or voicemail message?
Is that what it's there for? No?
... on UT Xenial it worked very well and was very practical. -

You know what, I'm not absolutely certain either way. But I'll keep an eye on it.

@vince-vs Yes, the led works for notifications on the OP5T.
And regarding your idea of 10 people working together on the port of a device, they all would ideally need to have that device so they can test. And who is going to pay for those devices?
Just to give you one idea why this is not very likely to happen this way, for your understanding. Because I believe, understanding the reasons is important.Not sure though, what the porter means with "wait for implementation in os side". Ubuntu Touch does definitely allow notification led and supports it. I did have that on my old BQ E5, on my Xperia X and now on my OP5T. I understood this to need device specific enabling. But I am no porter.
Some devices ship camera software within the camera, others only rely on the OS. So it might be a case of this. For some devices led works out of the box, for others it doesn't. But again, just the guesses of a non-porter. -

Thanks ! -
Hello,
I think this was a suggestion from someone else ( I want as many as possible ... , lol )
I also had a BQ E5 with UT installed by default; it worked well, and also for led notifications.
As I wrote, on my OnePlus 5T the led notifications worked with UT 16.04 and do not work with UT 20.04.
You say that on your OPT5 the led works ( Focal ?? ), I may have to reinstall UT 20.04 Focal ...
Have a nice day -
@vince-vs Yes. On my OP5T it works. But now you mention it, yes, there was a time when it did not work. I am on focal devel channel. Maybe there was a fix that has not landed in other channels yet. But doing a fresh flash can not harm.
Try flashing without wipe first, to keep your data. Or try changing the channel (and go back if you like). In the worst case try a full flash.

I can report that today I reinstalled the latest RC update on my Op5t, and it seems to have fixed several problems, and one of them is the notification LED! I now get a slow blinking green LED when there are notifs in the notification list and the screen is off.

@danfro
Hello,
I prefer not to "play" too much with upgrades and reinstallations, so
I'll get back to you when ota 4 is available and installed to let you know if there's any progress on the LED notification.
Best regards -
@Moem
Hello,
Thank you for the information you have provided. I would prefer to wait for OTA4 to see if there has been any progress and if LED notifications will be available again (solidly). Best regards -
