@freddo I see that files on system-image.ubports.com are stored with digital signatures, so, the situation is better here, but still requires implementing mechanism of choosing mirrors in installer software. I'll take a look at that soon. Thanks

@projectmoon The main problem that currently prevents using Wayland for electron apps, is that the On-Screen-Keyboard cannot work with GTK+Wayland+Mir1.x . By the way the Merezhyvo Browser ( popriatary app ! ) is an electron app using Wayland, but it has found it's way around this problem by coding it's own OSK inside the app itself, which is not really a way I want to go. (Especially for Signal because I want to modify the code only as strictly necessary, and also because for Signal there are other problems when it comes to using it in Wayland mode with Mir1.x). Anyway I've already tried it (see in the Signal UT topic), and reallu the best is to wait for Mir2.x, I hope it won't be in too long.

@b3 you can file an issue as feature request here : https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch/issues It can be quite a big work if we have to handle different backup format. Is there anything standard ?

@PizzaLovingNerd There is no technical reason that anbox could not work on the PinePhone, however it is still an extremely experimental feature even on the devices where it is currently available, and work has been going toward more important things for the PinePhone. Also, I think anbox on UT has no arm64 support yet. So, it would take someone contributing on making it work to get it to the point where it could be installed and run.

know what? a little birdie just reminded me of this page: http://docs.ubports.com/en/latest/porting/ubp-5.1.html it kinda says everything that needs to be said, no? had you seen this page? did you have to do something else? actually, which device are you working on? I'm thinking of moving that page from porting (where frankly I had overlooked it) to system software development section.... I agree

Keneda & doniks, Thank you for the suggestion; I had tried that and it didn't work. But, apparently waiting did the trick. It was stuck for around 45 minutes when I left it. I left the tablet alone for several hours and when I came back, there it was at the logon screen (AMAZING!) I logged in, tried a few things, and have done several power off and restarts and seems to be working as normal now... Don't know what the issue was but at least it was "self healing." Looking forward to running this tablet ubuntu touch. Again, many thanks.

Maybe you should search an alternative open source solution, like this one : https://moonlight-stream.org/ Maybe it will be easier to motivate people porting it to uTouch. Note that i just did a quick search and maybe there is beter open source solution for remote game streaming.

@negations it was my fault! Hosts file was replaced by uAdBlock and it compromises social network access. Remounted root dir in write mode and restore original /etc/hosts. Now i have no problem. Thank you!

Hi @Headgas, The latest posts here have been a little off-topic. In the future you might want to open a new thread for support about individual apps. I also suggest to check the telegram and matrix chat rooms as it's more suitable for a fast ask-and-forget type of questions.

@Keneda said in How to get contacts: Phone should be MTP by default, that's weird if it's not. It is, but screen must be unlocked to connect. You also must copy the file into one of the folders, not in the toplevel directory, which is not a writable place.

Oh man ! Thank you @kristatos ! Given the amount of times I had to reflash my FP2 from the ground on, this command is extremely precious ! Last time I did save my contacts I had to go to recovery, adb shell in the phone, pull sth like "contacts.db" , and push it back the exact same way after the installation...

Hi @shivmahar83 Do like this and see whats happens. In the N5 factory folder there is this image-hammerhead-m4b30z.zip, extract it, in there you have another set of images. right click an empty space in the folder, click 'Open terminal here', run these commands in terminal: sudo fastboot oem unlock sudo fastboot flash boot boot.img sudo fastboot reboot-bootloader sudo fastboot flash system system.img sudo fastboot reboot-bootloader sudo fastboot flash cache cache.img sudo fastboot flasch recovery recovery.img sudo fastboot reboot-bootloader In bootloader run the Ubports installer
