@MadDino I have used Windows 11 to unlock the bootloader and install UT my ASUS devices. It is not the easiest phone to install UT onto. The build number won't make a difference unlocking the bootloader, but when you unlock the bootloader use this (quote from devices page): "The port is based on Android 9 firmware (WW-16.2017.2004.063) and Lineage 16 vendor image. Current Recovery will be replaced with Ubports Recovery!" I think you are experiencing difficulties with the ASUS drivers. On Windows uninstall the drivers, reboot the PC, install the drivers and try again. If that fails try disabling driver signing which is a bit of a messy workaround. I found that one of the Windows updates messed with the drivers and uninstalling them and reinstalling solved it.

@MrT10001 Oh, looking at that chart... It has the Android edition top part, but doesnt have the buttons, still worked on android somehow... May have been a scrapped newspaper or developer version that went into the hands of someone? This was a kid's main phone before i got it. It was in the Mediamarkt electronics bin in Terrassa Parc Vallés of all places, the bin was full, with that phone on top. Im a bit ashamed of grabbing a phone off a bin, but that gives some backstory.

Hi, I would like to report a successful mobile network test on Fairphone 5 with Ubuntu Touch 24.04 daily in Japan. Device: Fairphone 5 Ubuntu Touch: 24.04-1.x daily Channel: 24.04-1.x/arm64/android9plus/daily OS build: 24.04-1.x (2026-04-29) Kernel: 5.4.302-qgki-g4ddb22d91965 (arm64) Device image: 20260225-31133 Carrier: LINE Mobile Japan, SoftBank network APN: Name: LINE mobile APN: line.me Username: line@line Password: line Authentication: PAP Protocol: IPv4 / ip Type: internet Preferred: true Confirmed working: Mobile network registration Mobile data Incoming calls Outgoing calls SMS sending SMS receiving Notes: At first, the SIM did not work. oFono repeatedly showed: data reg changed 2 -> 3 (denied), attached 0 data reg changed 3 -> 2 (searching), attached 0 Trying to activate the APN context failed with: org.ofono.Error.NotAttached: GPRS is not attached I manually configured the LINE Mobile APN, enabled RoamingAllowed, removed the automatically created SoftBank jpspir APN context, and also performed a daily-channel system update. After leaving the phone idle for a while, it eventually registered successfully. I cannot yet determine whether the fix was caused by the update, APN/oFono changes, removing jpspir, a delayed network registration, or a combination of these. This may be useful for Japanese users trying to use SoftBank-based MVNO SIMs on Fairphone 5 with Ubuntu Touch.

@messayisto calls show up and you can respond or hang up, but there’s no audio, so you can’t hear anything and the one on the other side also can’t hear you. So not usable, but it partially works.

@E-Z-Tux All is not lost. You need to charge the device up. Put it on charge for a day. If it fails to boot after that then you can use the Lenovo Software Fix Tool to recover Android to the device (requires a Windows PC).

@newguy said in Upgrading Pinephone from 20.04 to 24.04: I'm looking for a way to upgrade my PinePhone to version 24.04. There is no such way yet. At least not unless you are prepared to dive in and fix the issues that will surely cause the OS to malfunction after the upgrade.

Hi, I am using Ubuntu Touch on Shift6mq. I like to swap between Wifi Data and Mobile Data. The Wifi Data usually gives me a list of Networks and which one is connected. However, turning off Wifi Data, then turning on Mobile Data; then access internet, then turn off Mobile Data; then Power off and Power back on: The Wifi Data is set on, but there is no list of Networks. Access to previously accessed Networks does not work. I have not found a way to reactivate the Wifi Network from this condition. Can anybody help? cheers, Steve D

sorry, I am not realy precise in the description but I don't understand realy the probleme (not fluent in english - better in french) It is a critical problem, met first in 20.04, then in 24.04. today, I take some photos with my phone (this is not often). no probleme. , but then (20 mn later) I re-launch the camera app and the camera came to vibrate (trying to focus ?), without stop... even when I stop the app. I have to reboot the phone (the vibrations only stop when the phone was totaly stopped) And now, there are problems with the camera : I could take a photo once. never reboot, and now It doesn't work (no image on camera) nb : now it works, with light corrigation on the image this is the 2nd sony xperia X I use with UT. previously, my 1st device had the same probleme on 20.04. And I think it break the camera... (but I made it fall too... so I m not sure)

@Lalle75 said: Hi. I got my Volla now for some hours. I'm working with Linux (Debian and Ubuntu) for >10 years now, but I cannot achieve anything on this system. Hello Lalle, I think the answers provided by UT FAQ 8 (https://t.me/UTFAQ/10) may be useful for you: "8. Can I use apt on Ubuntu Touch? yesn't [yes and no]. Ubuntu Touch is built with privacy, reliability and stability accross a wide range of devices in mind. It is crucial that the developers are able to quickly reproduce and fix bugs across devices to ensure no faulty update ever makes it to the stable channel on any device, ever. To achieve this the rootfs is read-only. This allows UBports to provide image based updates. When you run an OTA update it replaces the read-only part of the operating system. Userdata is not a part of that, so you don't lose that or installed apps. But apt is not designed for a read-only rootfs, so as a result it will attempt to write to the read-only portion of the operating system. While you can remount your rootfs as read-write, because apt is writing into a normally read-only part of the system, an OTA update can partially overwrite the changes apt made. This can result in a broken system. So using apt essentially means you are running your own fork of Ubuntu Touch. You can install apps from the OpenStore app. How to get updates is described in our usage channel. there are other package managers that are made to work with a readonly rootfs, current working examples include snap and crackle (https://github.com/tuxecure/crackle)."

It was the cable. I used another one. Clicked on the gear at the top right side of the window. I clicked on "install driver" "check" button. A new window popped and ask to replug the phone. I did so and a spinning wheel indicated some activity and the phone was connected. I tried to unlock, the phone was verified, and i got a message asking to wait 143 hours. Next week if I am lucky I can be back on ubuntu-touch. The first time I opened the MiUnlock app, I had to login in my account. I did so with and email and a verification code send to that account. Afterwards it asked to register the phone number and I got a SMS to that number almost instantly. SoI had no problem with that SMS verification.

@wally I bought an MS Wireless Adapter V2 a few days ago. It works (my Pro1-X runs Android 11), but there's some lagging (sometimes it freezes a little bit, as well), and of course it not as stable as a HDMI cable.

@Antares86 What do you mean by latest ? Most recent phone ported or most recent port whatever phone release date ? Anyway take a look here for UT 20.04 devices : https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ One of the latest device is Fairphone 4 (Fairphone 5 incoming), ones of the latest ported devices are OnePlus N100/N10 5G.

@stoyanov_vl Reboot the device and leave it alone for about 10 minutes after booting up, the screen may kick in. I have had similar issues on other devices with a screen replacement. Another thing to try, if that fails is to back up data and do a clean install of UT.

@Moem yes, I did. But the very first question I cannot answer is: should I use the full system image or halium-boot method or the stand-alone kernel method. I don't understand the differences. As I mentioned: I'm not very familiar with mobiles.

@rugby There is a huge lack at this level and yet a real demand. Nothing new on the program. There is only the Sony Xperia X indeed, although not very recent. As a user, this mid-range smartphone https://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_xcover_5-10718.php seemed like a candidate for its price, size and performances, although I don't know anything about the feasibility of a focal port by a developer.

I searched for a good UT Guides, Firewall, VPN, Apps and etc. Any hints from the community which longer have their Hand on UT? Edit because of GPS!!!: be aware everyone of the following issue: Yesterday I tried to check the GPS functionality with this: https://docs.ubports.com/de/latest/userguide/dailyuse/location.html I turned on WLAN, insert a SIM Card and connect the charging cable. 15 min the device was very hot and shut down. I had recognize it to late because I only looked the display. After that I let the device cool down and booted up again. Greetings

@moem said in The device page requires community help: And so she types 'onep' or 'xper' or another suitable combination of letters... and the right options pop up (or there is a notice that this phone is not yet supported). It can't get quicker than that. The visibility of that option is very poor in either Dark Mode Firefox of Day Mode Pale Moon Also sometimes Search functions don't find what I am looking for while the thing I am looking for is actually there so I have stopped trusting them a very long time ago! I would not want to scroll down to Oneplus or Sony... Another option : https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Adaptations/libhybris Easy to go through. Very specific overview of the stuff that works and doesn't Anyway, new options are coming, and you may even like them. Can't wait!

We appear to have two thrads going on about the same device and issue https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6913/sound-volume-is-very-low-how-can-i-boost-it can I suggest that @anonymoustly picks the one most relevant and we shut the other one. Just let us know and we can lock one. That will stop answers getting lost or duplicated.
