What adapter is recomended for Ubuntu Touch convergence?

I am looking for an adapter to carry with my phone to plug into any monitor I may encounter. I would need hdmi, VGA, et cetera.

I presume you mean "external display" rather than "convergence" as the latter is about many more things and doesn't have a prerequisite on the former.

However, it depends on which device you're talking about. Many phones do not support wired video out, so you would need a Microsoft Wireless Display adapter for those. For Nexus 4/5/7 you would need a micro-USB Slimport adapter.

The required adapter would be dependent upon the hardware, not the software.

Okie dokie. I have a Oneplus one. How can I put the screen output on a monitor or something similar?
Also, I don't use Microsoft.

The thing about Microsoft is that the community reported it is the only wireless adapter that actuelly works with UT, believe it or not

And I can confirm it. I have two adapters, both work with Android but only the MS one with UT.

So I guess if you want to achive your goal while avoiding Microsoft hardware at all cost it means fixing the firmware of another adapter and/or handling the flaws of other adapter firmwares somehow in UT. Probably by yourself.

@Edward-Wilhelm You need a wireless adapter as Rodney said, look for the "Microsoft Wireless Display adapter", its the one that works in most cases.

Microsoft contributes directly to many open source projects, including the Linux kernel.

Wireless display is done via Miracast protocol, so you are welcome to try a different adapter and make pull requests to fix any issues that may come up with them, but the Microsoft adapter is one of the best.
