The files are in the cache partition and need to be deleted from there, but unfortunately also there is an entry in the database for the system image upgrader. Both can contribute, you may want to clean the cache partition first in recovery (be sure that its mounted to /cache),and if this does not help, I will look up the database file you need to clean πŸ™‚

I've had that happen, and deleting the cache of the settings app using UT Tweak Tool has always solved the problem. I cannot say if the files are removed but I am not running out of space...

@Giiba Yeah but you loose all settings if you do not select the right folder. I would only wipe cache maybe first πŸ˜‰

The cache of the Settings App is just 4MB, but the downloaded update is much larger. I really want to get rid of it and also free the disk space.

Deleted the cache anyways, the update is gone now. Thanks!
I wonder if it's still on disk...

@0xPIT The actual update is in the cache partition, but the index database is in your .cache folder. The update will be overwritten during downloads, thats also the reason why it cant be found anymore iof a second update has superseded it.

@Flohack Indeed, after the recent testing update, the unwanted unstable one has gone.
