No Internet Dependent Apps Work In Desktop Mode

Just checking to see if anyone was able to find a solution to this bug. When connected to a monitor via a Slimport HDMI adapter onthe Nexus 5, the desktop is displayed beautifully, but most apps that use the internet crash immediately upon opening.
