@bmarkman Are you asking for help with installing Ubuntu Touch on your Nexus 4 from your laptop running Zorin OS, on which you installed the UBports Installer?

A few questions help us help you:

        • What installer are you using, the deb, the snap, the AppImage?
        • What version of the Installer?
        • What OS and version is currently on the Nexus 4?
        • Is developer mode enabled on it?
        • Did you install the Android tools on your laptop?
        • Is your device recognized from the terminal with adb devices?

          Thanks....I appreciate the help.
Yes running the ubports installer on zorin os. I'm in developer mode on my nexus 4. Have also rooted the nexus 4. Connect usb cable and nexus 4 is recognized. Pressed volume and power button to restart nexus, but just get the battery icon on my nexus.

Hmm. On my Nexus 4 you had to take a couple of steps once in Developer Mode before starting the reset. Are you saying after you plug it in it won't boot again once it's plugged in?

@totalrando Greetings....Not sure about the couple of extra steps...The nexus 4 is identified t the top of my zorin browser after i plug in.. I then click on find the phone and enter for nexus 4. The ubports vid says to reboot the phone by pressing the volume keys and the power button. Ive done that multiple times and all im getting is the charging battery icon on the nexus 4. Thanks for any suggestions. Would like to get this going.....

@bmarkman I am no expert by any means here; I have had an Ubuntu Nexus 4 for three weeks. But have you tried to just hold the buttons to see if something else happens? I know I did it a few times, but I forgot if I held the buttons till I saw the robot again.

Basically I just did this a couple of times following the steps until I saw big orange circles on my phone flashing like a strobe light (I didn't know that meant the OS was installing).

EDIT #2: Also I'm pretty sure at least once I ignored the installer's instructions and just hit continue. The installer is actually more efficient than they give credit for, but it's not as easy as installing Ubuntu or Zorin to a laptop. It's kind of like 2008-level desktop install, you have to "beat it up" a bit. Just be persistent, because once you get the orange flashing circles it's just waiting for it to show up. But it took me like 5 tries (I actually installed it twice because I didn't know what the circles were. I almost did it three times but while I started to research the circles I saw the Ubuntu Touch loading screen). Good luck! Have confidence with it. It really works well on this phone!
