Yep OTA-11 is really broken, only apps that open for me are settings, contacts and the ubuntu store. Everything else crashes on opening.
I asked for some info regarding Hammerhead in another thread but as yet got no reply, is it that funding is needed to get stuff tested before it rolls out as an OTA? How much? Can we start a kickstarter or something? Seems to be a few people interested in the Nexus 5....

Situation is way better on rc-proposed, only the browser I have found that crashes on start so far. Installed a couple of other apps from the store and they ran fine too.
There's another thread about the bounty stuff for github issues.
Still no bluetooth for me though...

Same here, please could anyone repair urgently?
-
@tom: thx for the information.
Yesterday i flashed android on my phone. I will try to get a used meizu phone, which is officially supported by Ubuntu. I dont think this ports will ever work in a way that you can actually use your phone.
Greetings

On reading some comments on g+ page and on web, it seems OTA 11 and also the recent rc builds are based on android 5.1.1 and not android 4.4.2. We may have to update/reflash the base android version (though I couldn’t find any positing which instructs on updating the software explicitly) for nexus 5. After updating to android 5.1.1, still I see the OTA 11 problems like broken web browser and incoming phone calls not working but overall behaviour is better than with android 4.4.2.

@sagar.pradhan Please post a link or two to those.
-
as far as i know the new base is cyanogenmod 5.1.1 and not aosp. maybe the right android base fixes some issues. anyway i´m back to android - need at least a phone where i can receive phone calls.
-
Interesting so when flashing using ubuntu-device-flash and touch, it doesn't update the kernel/base? What is intended for android base, cyanogenmod base? The radio and the kernel?

@apple-muncy : Here are the links:
http://news.tecmint.com/aethercast-arrives-on-the-nexus-5-oneplus-one-support-in-tow/
http://news.softpedia.com/news/wireless-display-support-is-coming-to-nexus-5-and-oneplus-one-ubuntu-phones-504915.shtmlI went by the statement "This build is based on the ubp-5.1 branch (android 5.1/cm12.1)" and tried Android5.1.
But I think I should have tried cm12.1: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/15/what-is-ubp-5-1-1
@tom : My understanding is that the ubport software updates don't change AOSP stuff, at least not on nexus 5. @mariogrip can you confirm this?
-
@sagar.pradhan
Thanks.
I'm in the middle of loading my hammerhead with the devel_rc-proposed channel.And I've been trying to figure out what ubp-5-1-1 is. Maybe his at home channel that he will release when it gets more stable.
I've been hanging out on chat.freenode.net #ubports (IRC)
Sometimes serious discussion there.I might have to check out telegram.

@sagar.pradhan ok so is it just the baseband/radio to flash? what exactly should we update to 5.1.1?
-
@tom I guess you will have to install/flash complete ROM for cm12.1 on Nexus 5 and then reflash Ubuntu OTA12 or latest rc-proposed on it.
-
Ok, I flashed twrp recovery then cm12.1, then reflashed ubuntu rc-proposed (which didn't go super smoothly, I had to wipe the system in twrp first, otherwise --bootstrap failed) but no change. The Browser just hangs on the spinny loader anim, music same, gps doean't work, bluetooth doesn't work. All pretty much the same as ota-11, just with things hanging instead of crashing.
Do we need to donate a a nexus 5 to @mariogrip? I have acquired another one with a broken screen here, which I can fix and send if it's going to be useful?

@tom,
Just my personal view, dual booting is just not worth the trouble. -
Not dual booting at all, I flashed ubuntu over the baseband of cm12.1. I thought that was what the advice was!

" I flashed ubuntu over the baseband of cm12.1. I thought that was what the advice was! "
Yes, I think that was the advice.My cheap advice about mixing systems -> " dual booting is just not worth the trouble."
