OP5 /5T reaching installable state
-
Just an update:
- We are waiting for OTA-17 to be released today, as we could not merge necessary changes in the recovery. As soon as this is done we can publish an installer config that will allow installation without worries.
-
@flohack I don't see the 5/5T included in OTA-17. Was it not supposed to be?
-
@grintula The needed changes could no be done in time so Flohack was refering to the 5/5t being on the installer. When that is done and released it will be as for other devices. If all channels are available,Stable will be ota-17, RC a little ahead of that and dev heading of towards ota-18. AS for edge, there be dragons as ever.
-
@grintula Yeah sorry that was the plan, but we found fundamental changes needed to be done to recovery, and the changes were too risky before OTA-17. It will be merged now and then land in devel, and then the installer can be updated.

@Flohack Do you have any plan to apply anbox patches?
-
Yeah sure anbox patches can be done, but the whole Anbox thingie is being rewritten currently, and it will require different patches at the end
so Idk if I should include the old ones now or not -
The installer script seems to become increasingly uncertain as this thread progresses. I don't understand enough about the the dynamic between debugging recovery, the installer script setup, and the ubports ota release schedule. Is this still a temporary delay or an indefinite one?
-
If I have time I will publish the installer script tonight, we wanted to do it last weekend
Then everything will be much easier. -
@flohack Why do we need to flash rootfs.img to system partition? It's very strange! I tested erfan gsi image, it just needs to keep rootfs.img in /data.
-
The answer is simply, if system partition is large enough, why waste space in userdata? Halium knows several boot modes, and we strive to put all system-related stuff into system partition, it will save you approx 2-3GB in userdata.
The installer will take care of all that, if I can finish it ^^
-
@flohack Thanks for your reply, i think that's the reason why we got failure for flashing by that tools.

Wow. Awesome. I appreciate maintaining for OP5/T

Wanted to come to this thread as a token of my appreciation. Congratulations on the successful port! You have a very happy OP5 UT user and contributor on board!

Great to see the OnePlus 5/5T being at this stage!
Would it be a much better choice and worth the extra money coming from OnePlus 3/3T and if so, apart from the harware design/specs, what would be the best arguments to switch to OnePlus 5/5T?
-
@3t_ed Just moved from OP3 and everything is smoother, quicker and more polished. No need for bluetooth keyboard for accounts. Camera is great for what I need. When you can or want give it a go I don't think you will be disappointed. Just have a look at the device page. Please note this is my personnel point if view, bit biased to OP as I now have 1,3 and 5 on UT and a 5 (say it quietly) on an-----.

@lakotaubp
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one. Will be on the look out for a 5T as of today!
