[Porting] Call for testers
-
@flohack Sorry for the noob question in advanced but i'm used to flashing Lineage os images on arch Linux
the below command i'm not sure it can be performed in arch Linux
mounting the actual UT OS
When performing this step, TWRP recovery must be run:
Release ./halium-install-standalone.sh -p ut -s ubuntu-touch-android9-arm64.tar.gz system.imgif i run
sudo ./halium-install-standalone.sh -p ut -s ubuntu-touch-android9-arm64.tar.gz system.img
i get the below
qemu-arm-static not found in $PATHmake sure you have all dependencies installed.
dependencies: qemu-utils binfmt-support qemu-user-static e2fsprogs sudo simg2imgmost of which i can't get on arch
i'm guessing for now there is no option to run the script on anything but Ubuntu?
-
@adamjonn Hi, yes unfortunately there are some Ubuntu-specific parts in that toolchain.
We are working hard on getting the device into the UBports Installer, which is kinda blocked by the very small system partition the device has currently.
I hope over the next weeks / months to get this resolved.BR
-
@flohack thanks for getting back to me, i look forward to trying it when it is done in the mean time might use gnome box and install Ubuntu to try the current build.
will it also have anbox capabilities dare say i am fairly invested in android apps which i uses on my arch distro.
keep up the fantastic work! i watch another review of your work posted earlier today very high praise as always.
-
Installer config for the 2 Xl is available: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6199/beta-pixel-2-xl-installer-config
Please test ( not with the Pixel 2 please, only 2 XL!)
-
Some update, got MTP working today, now next big thing to do is call audio
-
Call audio working now, but needs to be merged into the rootfs, hence its not rolled out now and I will report later when it can be tested.
But it also works with speakerphone! I will update the devices page later, seems Pixel 2 goes towards daily usage ^^
-
@flohack I'm curious if your VoLTE experiment will be included. I was very excited to see you've made progress with snapdragon and android 9.
-
@rocket2nfinity Sorry the VoLTE experiment is currently still under development, there is unfortunately nothing useful right now
-
@flohack Still exciting. Another related question - is there a good guide on audio routing and how the dialer works? Because, when i'm in 4g only areas, my N6P can make calls but no touch tone/audio during the call, nor can you hang up. Thinking the Pixel 2 might be similar.
-

g and how the dialer works? Because, when i'm in 4g only areas, my N6P can make calls but no touch t
Hard to say maybe your phone tries to do volte who knows does the 4G/L signal stay on all the time during the call?
-
@flohack Yes. Stays 4G, but something's different with the audio routing when on 4G
-
@flohack So, what's not working with Pixel 2XL? Because it all seems to work to me. Even hotspot! Something I miss on the N6P.
-
@rocket2nfinity Hotspot works wtf... How can it be? Well N6P has a different method of switching the hotspot, and its hardcoded in UT so we need to fix that globally.
Erm check the list here: https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/muskie/ - and can you please tell me if I can mark some things green there? I as not able to test battery endujrance really due to my old and damaged device, e.g.
-
@rocket2nfinity Also GPS does not work for me...
-
@flohack GPS, hotspot, microphone all work for me. I'll test NFC, battery, and other things when i get the chance. I don't know how to determine if hardware acceleration is working. But, it runs smooth.
-
@rocket2nfinity humm interesting maybe my GPS is faulty then. I will wait for someone else to confirm together with you
NFC is hard to confirm now, there is no real click App that you can install, but I expect it works out of box since its an easy API
-
@flohack A few things i've noticed:
-
there's a strange power off problem. You hit power off, and the phone sometimes reboots instead.
-
Can't be sure about battery for two reasons. First, when you plug in to charge, it does not indicate it's charging, despite clearly doing so by the rising numbers. But no lightning bolt on battery. When screen goes off, charging LED turns on also indicating charging. Second, sometimes WiFi does not come back after moving out of and back into range, or after enabling flight mode. Same with WWAN after making a call, or dropping out of area, or flight mode. It says it reconnects, but no data until you reboot. Sometimes it does properly reconnect, so it's an intermittent hang up.
-Don't know if it's important to anything, but sensors app does not show screen rotation info, even though the screen clearly rotates.
-I cannot get fingerprint reader to do anything
-
-
@flohack calls and sms work. But MMS will not because cellular menu will not let me create and set up an apn with mms settings. It simply will not save after being inputted.
-
@rocket2nfinity Ok interesting. Thanks for your findings.
Yes battery indication is a global problem in many Halium 9 devices, also fingerprint. The other things are really strange. But its a good start
-
@flohack I think it's the same kind of problem we had on the N6P. Something occasionally starts running away and then BT, WiFi, WWAN hangs up.
Let me know what logs or commands I can do to help troubleshoot it.
