Hi guys, some updates finally: You can grab an installer config from this place: https://github.com/ubports/installer-configs/pull/100/files and then test it:

        • Download latest installer from here: https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer/releases/tag/0.8.8-beta
        • Download the installer config from the Github link, depending on your device
        • Start the installer from the commandline with -f <path_to_config.yml>
        • For the time being you do not need to select Firmware install, but you can also test this
        • Do NOT select Wipe userdata if you want to keep your current data!
        • Follow the steps and lets hope it will work for all of you

Note: If you had installed the previous devel builds with halium-install, please boot to recovery first, adb into the device, ensure data is mounted (mount /data) and remove the 2 files: rootfs.img and system.img from /data directory. They might interfere with the final installation in the system partition. If you do not mind loosing data you can also select "Wipe" in the installer.

Just did test by your steps, but the installer mentioned that the device of dumping was not supported.
          Platform tested:mac os 10.15.7 and windows 10

Execute the command, xxx -f dumpling

From your installer config, i could know it just did the flash job for recovery partition. May I know where are vendor, rootgfs(system) and android-rootfs.img?

@thomas-k8s the other files are in the tarball downloaded from here: https://system-image.ubports.com/16.04/arm64/android9/devel/dumpling/index.json and you wont understand that format right away:

              • Installer flashes recovery
              • You reboot into recovery manually
              • Installer downloads the latest full image from system-image server
              • Installer transfers this into the /cache partition of your device via adb push
              • Installer tells recovery to reboot again into recovery
              • On startup, recovery checks /cache folder, finds the tarball together with a command file
              • Recovery will start unpacking the tarball and then:
              • Recovery will extract the rootfs image into system partition
              • Recovery will add the android-rootfs.img into /system partition
              • Recovery will flash vendor and boot partitions
              • Recovery will reboot

If you experience any issues please boot manually into recovery and try to find the log files in /cache/recovery folder I think it is...

@thomas-k8s did you specify dumpling.yml ? you need to give the full path to that file, including the extension, otherwise the installer will not find it and default to autodetection, where this config is still not available.

@thomas-k8s doesnt need to be absolute path, if your terminal is in Downloads and your file is in downloads than you just need to do.

                    ubports-installer -f dumpling.yml

it worked fine on cheeseburger anyways.

@thomas-k8s Okay sorry to say but maybe the MacOS variant does not recognize the cmdline parameter at all. We got very few users with MacOS πŸ˜‰

@phoenixlandpirat Yes, I got the same error, and if you have 5t device .you may try Ubuntu but I have to say you will be failed by running installer. The image url was not correct β€˜cause the building process was failed these days. You can download them manually and rewrite url in dumpling for recover.img

@thomas-k8s we are changing the links to the images now to static links, so with the next update that should be gone.

Windows doesn't recognize command line parameters it seems.

Used my Ubuntu laptop and it worked flawlessly.
Thank you for the amazing work so far!

@flohack Hi I installed the latest version of Ubuntu TOuch using the installer.

                                            I have 2 issues.

                                            1. The Updater is always checking for updates, on the PinePhone and Op3 it only checks for a little while then tells me software is up to date, does the OP5 properly check for a system update atm?

                                            2. I tried calling someone using the OP5. and I'm able to receive and call others, however I hear no voice, and they hear none back.
