USB C to HDMI on Pixel 3a

Hello everybody,
I just installed UT on the Pixel 3a I received today: No surprise on my side based on what could read on this forum. Most of the things work, except for the SMS and MMS as I'm on T-Mobile US...
The one thing I having hard time to figure out is if/how the external display works with a usb c to hdmi adapter. When I hook it up, my monitor identify that there is something going on (asking me if I want to switch to the corresponding hdmi port) but nothing show up. The only thing i can see in Settings is for wireless display. Anyone has any clue?

@cigalon I don't think Pixel 3a supports wired external display. If I remember correctly, all Pixel phones don't support it even though the hardware technically can do it with USB 3.x.

I know this thread is over a year old, but I join in anyway.I bought a USB-C to HDMI cable myself and found that this did not work. After some searching online I came across this thread.
At first I didn't want to believe that it was not possible to connect an external monitor (wired), so I had to search a little more.As @kugiigi mentions, the hardware does not support this directly because the Pixel 3a only has USB 2 (USB 3 is required), but then I came across a thread from another forum that mentions a video on youtube titled "Pixel 3 to HDMI Video Output (using a WIRED adapter)". (I was not allowed to paste the link here)
Here you can see that it is possible with the DisplayLink technology (but on Android you have to download an app for this).
So then the question is, has anyone tried DisplayLink with Ubuntu Touch?The only thing I can find in the forum regarding DisplayLink is a thread from 2018. A lot may have changed since then.

@ramborikk It is a proprietary technology that does work via USB but it requires the app and a special cable/dock. Since it's proprietary, it'll be hard to make it work on UT.

Display link barely works on linux desktop last I checked, was super bummed out by the bad proprietary drivers
